- Learn by supporting the team in strengthening partnership work related to the MENA region.
- Learn by contributing to the update on the social and economic trends of the changing environment and update the country profiles of MENA programme countries.
- Learn by supporting in monitoring changes in social-political dynamics or upcoming major events in the region and conduct geopolitical analysis of the trends that might impact UNICEF’s funding and advocacy efforts.
- Keep abreast of the UNICEF initiatives including publications released.
- Provide creative and innovative views on concept papers, strategies etc.
- Learn by supporting the preparation of e summary reports of key interagency and intergovernmental meetings that are related to the region and its countries.
- Learn by supporting the work of the UNICEF Executive Board and United Nations General Assembly meetings September 15-30, 2020.
- Support in developing visualization of data, and graphics, for funding trends for Gulf donors.
- Support in designing of power-point and other presentation formats as required.

- Assist in research for accurate and evidence-based data and information for briefing notes for OED.

- A university degree (Bachelor's or higher) in international relations, Middle Eastern studies, social sciences, law or related field. Study/experience in human rights and related work would be an asset.
- Proven ability to synthesize information and communicate it simply and effectively: Superior writing and research skills; Strong analytical skills; Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to operate in a diplomatic environment, using tact and judgement.
- Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment. Competencies required: commitment, embracing diversity, integrity, teamwork, and drive for results; communication, judgment, planning, setting standards and monitoring work, analytical and conceptual thinking.
- Knowledge of office computer systems (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet research.
- Experience in negotiation and advocacy an asset.
- Understanding of UNICEF’s mandate is a must, UNICEF experience an asset
- Fluency in English (both written and oral) is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
- Duration: 1 August – 30 October 2020Duty Station: Teleworking/UNICEF New York Headquarters Salary/Payment: There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship. Interns working at NYHQ, must have a valid G-4 visa prior to their arrival. The UN will not register an intern who is on a different type of visa (i.e. visitor's visa). Interns employed at NYHQ who are not on a G-4 visa must take immediate action to obtain a G-4 visa and register with the UN accordingly. No visas will be facilitated by UNICEF. Insurance: UNICEF will not be responsible for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the intern’s service, whether on or off UNICEF premises. Therefore, the selected candidate must provide proof of enrolment in a health/accident plan prior to start his/her work with PPD. Living Conditions and Working Environment: The intern is full time (40 hours per week). The UNICEF Headquarters will re-open on 1 August 2020 for a limited number of essential employees initially. Selected candidate will work remotely until further notice.
