National Internship for SNV Energy Department

SNV has been working in Vietnam since 1995. Using market based approaches, SNV is committed to reducing poverty by catalysing environmentally sustainable solutions for the poor in agriculture, energy, water & sanitation, and Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+). Especially for indoor air pollution, SNV has been providing clean cooking solutions for Vietnam households since 2003 including biogas and improved cookstoves.
Almost 3 billion people around the world cook on open fires and traditional stoves. And it is women and children in particular who suffer most from the resulting negative effects: indoor air pollution causes serious respiratory illnesses, looking for wood in remote areas puts women's lives at risk and the time spent on such activities reduces the time that could be spent on education and social activities.
SNV is seeking 04 committed persons for internship position to support the dissemination of new cooking innovations to a group of 30 households in Khanh Thuong Commune, Ba Vi District, Hanoi and monitor and evaluate the fuel saving from this group compare to the baseline situation of using traditional cookstoves. The Intern will be based in Hanoi with frequent travels to sites (8 days) during the period from 23 September 2019 to 22 October 2019.
Nature of work
The intern will work closely with project team in surveying and disseminating of new cooking solution activities to local households.
Key Responsibilities
- Attending in training by team leader (SNV Energy Advisor) regarding new cooking solution and the Kitchen performance test (KPT)
- Practicing the KPT questionnaires and monitoring tools (weigh scales and moisture measurement equipment)
- Providing training to households on new cooking solutions
- Measuring the fuel consumption at surveyed households during 3 days for each of two new cooking solutions
- Submitting the survey results
- Other support the Project Team on needs-basis
Support from SNV
- SNV will support the intern local travelling expenses and also cover the personal accident insurance when the intern is required to work in the fields out of the working station in Ha Noi.
- He/she will benefit from working with multi-national team of professionals with rich and diverse fields of expertise.
- SNV will facilitate the intern to meet his/her personal learning objectives during this assignment.
Requirements
- Commitment in the required period from 23 September 2019 to 22 October 2019.
- Experience in conducting field work is preferred
- Proactive and independent
- Eager to learn and develop professional working skills in a dynamic work environment
- Willingness to work on intensive deadlines with “I can” attitude
- Good computer skills in MS-applications (Word, Excel)
Contract Period: 1 month (from 23 September 2019 to 22 October 2019.)
Start Date: 23 September 2019
Compensation:
The gross compensation (before tax and insurance) for this 1 month task is 396 USD (excluding the travel cost, accommodation and per diem during site visit).
