Health Poverty Action (HPA) is an international NGO (UK Registered Charity Number 290535), founded in 1984, with its head office based in London, UK. HPA currently implements programmes in 15 countries throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America. Priority is given to the most excluded and vulnerable, in particular underserved and remote communities, to build knowledge and skills that will enable them to improve their own health and to gain continuing access to effective health services and information.
HPA has been operational in Viet Nam since 2016 and is currently implementing projects related to malaria control and elimination funded by the Global Fund to Fight Tuberculosis, AIDS and Malaria (GFTAM). The new 3-year GFTAM project is being implemented in four target provinces in collaboration with the National Institute of Malariology, Parasitology, and Entomology (NIMPE), academic and local NGO partners.
In March, during the initial COVID-19 outbreak, the Global Fund allowed grant flexibilities to direct program activities toward COVID-19 prevention as well as mitigating the risks of COVID-19 on other health services working to control TB, HIV and Malaria. The Global Fund has allocated additional funding for the countries to mitigate the impact of COVID 19 on Malaria, HIV and TB programmes. As a sub-recipient of this grant, HPA works alongside NMP, to ensure Malaria prevention, diagnosis and treatment services continue despite the COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam by providing technical assistance to the NMP to develop a COVID-19 mitigation plan, contribute to ensuring the continued access to effective Malaria services, and mitigating the impact of COVID-19 on community access to health services.
The National Institute for Malariology, Parasitology, and Entomology (NIMPE) and HPA have worked with partners at all levels to identify measures to ensure that the national malaria control and prevention programme can continue to provide malaria prevention and case management services at all levels, especially in areas affected by COVID-19. Vietnam National Malaria Programme (NMP) must ensure: (1) the critical preparedness, readiness and response actions for COVID-19 prevention and control, and (2) protect the health care workforce as well as the clients and patients.
In order to implement “Covid-19 mechanism additional funding for Vietnam” project up to 30 June 2021, we are currently recruiting 02 Project Coordinators (01 for HPA, 01 for NIMPE). Each should be detail oriented and an excellent communicator. The Coordinator need to have a strong understanding of malaria programs implementation and the operations of the CDC where the Coordinator works. The Coordinator needs to plan ahead, meet deadlines while maintaining strong relationships with co-workers, donors and government staff.
