The Program
Aus4Skills is managed by Coffey, a Tetra Tech company, on behalf of the Australian Government.
The Program is the main vehicle to realise the Australian Government’s commitment to improve the quality of Vietnam’s human resources. The program has operated since January 2016 and will complete its first phase in June 2021. The design of phase two is currently in progress.
Aus4Skills manages the Australia Awards Scholarships and the implementation of Human Resource Development (HRD) Components focusing on the development and application of new skills and knowledge acquired by Program participants and the enabling environments for their application, as well as strengthening organisational links between Australia and Vietnam in priority sectors.
The HRD Components are currently:
- Promoting Industry Linkages with Vocational Education and Training (VET)
- Advancing Women in Leadership (AWIL)
- Supporting Australia’s Broader Interests (ABI) / Vietnam Australia Centre (VAC). The VAC is a new initiative that that will draw on Australian and Vietnamese experts to support Vietnam’s future leadership address national and international challenges.
The program remains committed to ensure equality for women, people living with disability and those living in the Provinces (especially those in designated disadvantaged districts).
Aus4Skills supports the Australian Embassy Hanoi in the implementation of the Australia Alumni in Vietnam Strategy 2016-2021 (Strategy), a five-year initiative led by the Australian Embassy Vietnam in line with Australia’s Global Alumni Engagement Strategy which aims to connect, mobilise and celebrate alumni. Implementation of the Strategy involves multiple stakeholders across government, education, and the private sectors, requiring well-structured coordination and oversight. A key focus of Aus4Skills is to provide support to alumni to enhance their skills and knowledge learnt in Australia and/or Vietnam. This will enhance alumni capacity to contribute to the development of their sector, community and more broadly Vietnam and strengthen their links with Australia.
As the managing contractor, Coffey, is now seeking applications for an Alumni Engagement Manager.
The Position
The Alumni Engagement Manager is responsible for the cohesive, effective, efficient and targeted engagement with a broad range of alumni to support the objectives, operational delivery and activity level design and reporting on alumni engagement and communications as outlined in the Strategy and accompany implementations plan/s, including information management, public diplomacy events and professional development activities. A specific focus over the initial period of the assignment will be on the development of a bespoke alumni engagement strategy for the VAC.

The Person
You will have a Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, and, ideally, up to five (5) years practical working experience in a role, relevant to the position, in a large program within the education sector or context.
You will be a strategic and innovative thinker with a flair for promotions and communications. Coupled with your practical experience in activity identification and design, project, event or training management/coordination, and an understanding of budgets and financial processes, you will demonstrate experience in leading and motivating people.
Together with your advanced level of communication and interpersonal skills and your English language speaking and writing skills, you will display experience in writing reports, speeches, press releases and promotional material for modern all social media platforms.
You will demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of the Australian Government Aid Program, Australia Awards, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT’S) Gender and Disability Policy and other related policies.
Practical experience working with Government of Vietnam officials at various levels, women, people with a disability and minority groups to support and promote their capacity development and learning opportunities will be a strong advantage and highly desirable.
A strong collaborative and constructive approach along with a solution focused attitude and the ability to provide flexible and creative responses to competing demands will set you up for success. Being a positive team player with excellent inter-personal skills for building and maintaining effective working relationships is critical.
