Background information/context
Save the Children (SC) has been implementing a Child – Centered Community Development Program in Lao Cai (Sponsorship-funded program) since 2013 with the goal to ensure that disadvantaged children are able to develop to their full potential by providing quality and sustainable services on care and education for children, families and communities. The program consists of 4 core components - Early Child Care and Development (ECCD), Basic Education (BE), School Health and Nutrient (SHN) and Adolescent Development (AD). The program period is from 10 to 15 years in 5 districts of Lao Cai Provinces (Bat Xat, Bao Thang, Bao Yen, Muong Khuong and Van Ban). The program aims to achieve the following objectives:
- Improved child development outcomes and caregiving knowledge and practices for children 0-6 years;
- Improved learning outcomes for all children through quality basic education (6 – 14 years);
- Improved learning and development outcomes for all boys and girls, which includes improved health and nutrition related knowledge, attitudes, practices and behavior (children 0-18 years);
- Development of protective factors and reduction of risk factors leading to increased sexual and reproductive health opportunities for adolescents (10 – 24 years)
AD component was started in 2017 with the objective “Adolescents are equipped to make a healthy and successful transition through puberty to young adulthood”. AD in school club activity plays a very important role to help adolescents improve knowledge, attitudes, skills and self-efficacy, particularly sexual and reproductive health (SRH). Each club has 5-6 sessions relating to SRH per year with participation of around 25 students. Teachers in Secondary schools are clubs’ facilitators. Every year, all facilitators were equipped with necessary skills and knowledge before running clubs in schools.
In 2021, one Manual for in school AD clubs’ facilitators has been developed and finalized. In order to introduce the Manual, provide facilitation and trainers’ skills, build up capacities, it has been planned to hire external consultant to provide one TOT training course for facilitators of adolescent club, district specialists in charge of lower secondary school and health staff.
Objective
The objective of this assignment is to conduct a two-day TOT training for facilitators of adolescent club, district specialists in charge of lower secondary school and health staff on adolescent club manual which created by SCI. The consultant can refer to the manual outline in the Annex 1. The full version of the manual will be sent to the consultant after the official contract is signed.
We are looking for a Vietnamese consultant for: TOT training course for facilitators of adolescent club, district specialists in charge of lower secondary school and health staff on adolescent club manual
Location: Lao Cai city, Lao Cao province.
Services the Consultant will provide
- Training materials including pre & post-test, tentative agenda, detailed presentation & handouts
- A two-day training course for core facilitators in Lao Cai city, district junior high-school officers and district sexual and reproductive health staffs on provision of
- Provide a detailed introduction of the manual and how to use it
- Provide a number of demonstration session so that participants have a good understand of how to use the manual in practice
- Participants have the chance to practice a number of sessions in groups and receive feedback from the consultant during the training
- Guide participants on how to address gender issues while running the club Submit the proposal and revise the proposal as needed.
- A report on the training course with recommendations for fulfilling the manual based on recommendations of consultant & participants.
Experience and skill set required
- Relevant expertise on facilitation skills, knowledge of adolescent sexual and reproductive health
- Experience in providing similar training in similar context
- Qualification: the trainer having master degree and at least 5 years of experience in a relevant discipline
- English language skills
Expected Deliverables
The selected consultant will be required to deliver the following deliverables to SC:
- Training materials including pre & post-test, tentative agenda, detailed presentation & handouts
- Two day-training course
- A report on the training course
Timeline
The tentative duration for the evaluation from 1st August to 30th August 2021. The detail of timeline for each activity will be developed between SC and the consultant.
