The Opportunity
Save the Children works across a broad range of partners as per our Theory of Change and our partnership principles. Key strategic directions include building a diverse partnership characterised by equality and complementarity, enabling children and youth led organisations and their voices to be at the forefront, and scaling climate change, adaption and resilience approaches.
This program will focus on partnerships with local civil society organisations, especially child led organization, Civic space for civil society, including child rights organisations, is increasingly being challenged, but Save the Children believes that a strong civil society is crucial to promote, defend and demand accountability for children’s rights. SC Sweden’s CSO Strengthening Programme in Asia supported by Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) will seek to build a strong civil society that demands and supports the fulfilment of children’s rights – holding states to account and mobilizing and empowering children and their communities through a regional and integrated approach.
The OCD and Partnership coordinator is a key position working together with stakeholders and partners across the Regional and Country programmes to coordinate and support the successful implementation of the OCA and OCD process. The coordinator will ensure quality OCD and partnership support to the SIDA CSO programme and coordination of partners’ organizational capacity development. The incumbent will coordinate with CO partnerships focal, and project leads for conducting OCA and ensuring OCD plan is in place. As partners’ organizational Capacity Development focal point, he/she will contribute to the improvement of the health of the partners and to their quality program deliveries. The coordinator will monitor the OCD plan progress of the partners and facilitate cross-learning through an online OCD platform.
Key Responsibilities:
Support in OCA tool development
- Make inventory of capacity-sharing and OCA tools, with overview of usage, analysis of gaps of existing tools if any, and recommendations on which case each tool might be used, and suggestions for any new tools to address those gaps.
- Support country offices in OCA tool customization and development according to the country and partner context following SCS OCD framework.
- Develop an OCA tool library by collecting available OCA tools and instructional videos/ learning materials on how to facilitate OCA process.
Support and Coordinate OCA and OCD activities:
- Organize and support OCD workshops across the Programme.
- Ensure OCA and OCD processes of Regional programme partners, and support COs in OCA and OCD processes, where needed.
- Ensure that all partners have their OCD plans developed and put in place.
- Provide support in conducting periodic consultations with partners regarding organizational development and system strengthening.
- Support CSOs in most effective ways of learning with methodology and content in relation to development of CSOs’ own capacity strengthening plans.
- Setup and facilitate OCD Champions across CSO programme involving CO counterparts.
Develop and Promote Online Cross Learning Platform for OCD
- Design and develop in coordination with partners, necessary SC departments and other key stakeholders, an OCD online platform and Toolkit, which provides scope for OCA facilitation and OCD progress tracking including access to relevant learning materials
- Integrate and facilitate the whole life cycle of OCA and OCD process in online platform.
- Enable CSO programme to provide technical support to any CO in OCA and OCD facilitation for partners
- Facilitate partners in peer and cross learning on OCD and sharing best practices with support from KM Specialist.
Support Partners’ Organizational Development and Capacity Strengthening
- Together with the SCI program team and COs, identify priority areas for capacity building and work with the Partnership Focal to provide capacity building support for CO staff on OCA and OCD
- Coordinate and collaborate with technical specialists, contracted trainers and capacity building partners as needed
- Regularly check capacity-strengthening plans and ensure that staff are regularly mobilised within SC to dedicate time towards supporting relevant components of the plan.
- Follow the implementation of the partners’ OCD plans, and support partners’ capacity strengthening in response to OCD plan and move the plan ahead as per target.
- Develop learning activities, audio-visual materials, instructor guides, e-learning materials and lesson plans on OCA and OCD
- Work with intermediary organizations to ensure good capacity self-assessments and planning
Support Partnership Management
- Maintain a Partner Database with up-to-date information.
- Ensure that the Partnerships folder on the shared drive is kept up to date with key resources including SOPs, workflows, guidance, manuals, case studies etc.
- Support ARO’s CSO programme for scoping, selection, and assessment of potential partners in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Assist CSO Partnership Advisor and Programme Manager in involving partners in programme design, through partnership workshops, meetings, etc.
- Coordinate and support in organizing capacity strengthening initiatives on partnership for SCI and partner staffs.
- Work closely with Awards and other stakeholders to ensure that all Partners receive their induction checklist and receive the necessary support to schedule mandatory briefings before programme begins.
- Participate in capacity monitoring and assessments of partners as requested by programme or partners.
General
- Participate in internal and external meetings, workshops, training.
- Any other tasks required by the supervisor.
- In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
