Project Objective
SI is implementing the USAID/Vietnam Learns Contract. The scope of the five-year project is to support USAID/Vietnam staff and its implementing partners to implement more efficient, effective, and sustainable programs by (1) improving staff knowledge and skills in Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) and Collaborating, Learning & Adapting (CLA); (2) advancing evidence-informed decision-making; (3) strengthening strategic collaboration between staff and local stakeholders.
Position Description
USAID Learns seeks a Research Assistant Consultant to act as a knowledge management (KM) focal point and Research and Organizational Learning Assistant to support ongoing and upcoming research and evaluations. This consultancy is full-time, based in Hanoi for 6 month- contract and will report to the Research Director.
Selection Criteria
- Bachelor's degree, with a preference for degrees relevant to research, public health, public policy, international development, or another related field.?
- Demonstrated experience supporting and conducting evaluations or research in the development sector.
- Sound experience with administration and/or logistics for data collection, specifically coordinating data collection activities.?
- Basic knowledge of data analysis and statistical methodology.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to details, and ability to take detailed notes.
- Ability to work independently to meet deadlines and adhere to high-quality standards.?
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, and Power Point, experience in using Pivot Table will be an advantage.
- Keen interest in contributing to sustainable development goals.
- Good English and Vietnamese reading and writing skills.
- Data visualization skills preferred.
- Experience working with USAID preferred.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Research Assistant Consultant will be expected to:Assist the CLA team in managing assignments and KM support:
- Support the CLA team to maintain and update CLA and research indicators.
- Support in tracking the progress and budget of research assignments.
- Assist in managing consultant’s Level of Effort (LoE) and their deliverables.
- Be the KM focal point for the research team, including delivering orientation on KM for new team members and consultants, when necessary; support the organization of the research team’s files on Social Impact’s server (SharePoint and Google Drive); and document organizational knowledge for learning and reporting purposes.
- Support with data visualization for the CLA team when necessary.
- Perform desk review and identify additional information required for analysis
- Coordinate the research and evaluation activities, including meetings, interviews, note taking
- Provide logistics support for evaluation activities, including interviews, meetings, group discussions, fieldwork, and events
- Conduct interviews as needed and contribute to data collection
- Provide ongoing analysis of qualitative and quantitative data
- Support the preparation and presentation of the key findings and recommendations to USAID
- Write assigned sections of the draft research/evaluation report in coordination with the team members, taking into consideration feedback from the presentation of the preliminary findings
- Work collaboratively with team members throughout design, implementation, analysis, and report writing to complement each other's areas of expertise
- Conduct programmatic administrative and support tasks as assigned and ensure the processes move forward smoothly.
