The Environment and Development Division, Environment and Development Policy Section internship is for a period of two to six months depending on the needs of the division. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (37.5 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the division or office to which they are assigned. Environment and Development Policy Section plays a leading role in facilitating the analysis, development, promotion and dissemination of innovative policies in the field of environment and development. With a focus on 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals, and the need to improve the capacity of policymakers in the region to development implementation strategies in an integrated manner.
ResponsibilitiesTo support and strengthen stakeholder engagement related to implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: •Conducting outreach in the context of stakeholder engagement activity for implementing projects and initiatives; •Undertake research on stakeholder engagement policies and practices in Asia and the Pacific, including through innovative methods of information collection and outreach, and produce knowledge products for sharing with member states and other stakeholders; •Support the development of internal policy and practice on stakeholder engagement; •Other duties, as required.

EducationTo qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must met one of the following requirements: a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation.
Work ExperienceLanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
