Key Objectives
• Uphold Blue Dragon’s mission and values
• Ensure that Blue Dragon’s financial data is accurately and effectively recorded in a timely manner
• Ensure financial management follows Blue Dragon’s policy and procedures
• Provide quality assistance to the Chief Accountant
• Support staff across the organisation to fulfil financial requirements


Main Responsibilities
The position responsibilities will be negotiated with the Chief Accountant, and are expected to include:

  1. Bookkeeping/Accounting
    • Manage cash payment requests and expense disbursements, checking all documentation provided by staff for accuracy
    • Record all transactions accurately in Quickbooks
    • Keep accurate records of advances
  2. Accountant Job Description
    • Check and verify supporting documents including receipts, quotes and agreements
  3. Reporting
    • Assist program staff to prepare financial reports
    • Assist Fundraising and Communications staff to prepare monthly reports; check donor income reports for accuracy
  4. Donor Support
    • Assist Chief Accountant to produce expenditure reports for donors
    • Develop good relationships with accounting staff of major donors to facilitate accurate reporting
    • Build knowledge of accounting systems used by grant-makers
  5. Salaries, payroll and social insurance assistance
    • Take the lead in calculating and organizing monthly payroll and PIT reports
    • Consult with HR about PIT for consultants
  6. Assistance to Blue Dragon staff
    • Assist staff in preparing cash advances and expense disbursement
    • Respond to financial queries from staff
    • Provide helpful support to staff in ensuring they understand financial procedures and policies
    • Provide support to the Chief Accountant on staff training in financial issues
    • Help prepare required documents for audits
    • Other duties as required to assist the Chief Accountant


The Accountant supports staff across the organization, and is supported by the Chief Accountant.


Key Selection Criteria

  1. Essential
    • Relevant tertiary experience in Accounting and financial management
    • At least 2 experience years as an Accountant with similar duties
    • Familiarity with Social Insurance regulations and Tax
    • High-level proficiency in MS Excel
    • Ability to understand and speak English.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
    • Proven passion and enthusiasm for working in an organization that assists disadvantaged young people
    • Ability to work flexible hours during peak times
    • A friendly and helpful manner, with a servant leader mentality
  2. Desirable
    • Experience working in an international NGOs
