Arbitration Interns for Arbitration Case Management Teams

Recognising the challenges, criticism and unprecedented pressure faced by the World Trade Organization (WTO) system, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has unveiled a groundbreaking set of recommendations to guide the future of international trade. The Secretariat of the ICC Court of Arbitration is currently looking for arbitration Interns for our Arbitration Case Management Teams for a non-flexible period of three months or six months. The next periods of internships will start on:

1 January 2020 (Ref: Internship-Jan20) – deadline for the applications: 15 September 2019
1 April 2020 (Ref: Internship-Apr20) – deadline for the applications: 15 December 2019
1 July 2020 (Ref: Internship-Jul20) – deadline for the applications: 15 March 2020
1 October 2020 (Ref: Internship-Oct20) – deadline for the applications: 15 May 2020

(Please mention the reference in the subject line of your application) The Intern will be under the supervision of a Counsel of one of the arbitration case management teams in Paris. Tasks entrusted to the Interns include:

Read and draft documents related to arbitration cases in English (French and Spanish are required for specific teams)
draft in English (French and Spanish are required for specific teams)
legal research and read legal documents in English and one of the languages listed below
preparation of conferences
translation of legal documents
ad hoc assignments as requested by the teams and the services of the Secretariat to which the intern may be assigned

Preference will be given to students in international commercial law arbitration with strong academic credentials and prior work experience. Fluent English is a requirement. Being fluent in one of the following languages is an advantage: Arabic, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish or any Eastern European language. Eligibility conditions: The candidate needs to still be registered as a student during the time of the internship. Recent graduates who are not anymore enrolled in an educational program are therefore not eligible to do an Internship at ICC. Important information: Nationals from outside the European Union or Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Andorra, Monaco, or Switzerland should get an appropriate visa from the French consulate. Interns are also required to handle their own travel/accommodation arrangements for the duration of their stay. The ICC is not in a position to provide scholarships/fellowships. The Internship Programmes are full-time and the average working week is 35 hours. The Intern will receive a monthly gratification of about EUR 600 + meal vouchers + partial compensation (70%) of public transport costs. Two referees’ names with their respective contact details (if possible one academic referee and one professional referee who supervised you directly)
an academic writing sample in English ( e.g. submitted paper during university studies)
