OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The WHO Western Pacific Region is made up of 37 countries and areas. The diversity of people and health situations requires a solid understanding of the emerging socioeconomic, epidemiologic and demographic patterns and trends.
The Division of Programme Management provides overall direction and coordination for the management of regional technical cooperation with countries and areas in the Western Pacific Region.
The objective of the Country Support Unit is to support the establishment of effective leadership of WHO's work in countries in the Region.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under the guidance and supervision of the Technical Officer (Planning, Collaboration and Reform), as well as the coordination of the Administrative Assistant/CSU, the incumbent performs the following duties and functions:
(1) Provides assistance and performs administrative duties for CSU team members, including screening of callers and visitors; directing incoming correspondence to appropriate staff members; reviewing outgoing correspondence for accuracy of style, grammar and spelling, and completeness of accompanying documents; establishing and maintaining required records, files and reference materials; scheduling appointments; preparing requisitions and other administrative documents; and drafting correspondence and information materials;
(2) Provides administrative support in the technical cooperation activities for CSU, including gathering and maintaining reference materials and working with administrative colleagues in country offices;
(3) Assists in organizing CSU meetings and activities, including recruitment of consultants and resource persons; finalizing travel arrangements; checking documents; responding to participant requests; compiling documents and preparing meeting sharepoint sites; providing information to participants on the meeting programme and activities; assists in ensuring order and security for meeting participants; maintaining files of general information on meetings; and completing various forms concerning meetings;
(4) Prepares travel arrangements for CSU team members; prepares briefing materials for use on official trips and special meetings. In the absence of a team member, briefs other team members on key matters for which they provide assistance;
(5) Occasionally replaces secretarial staff within the Unit or Division during their absence, as coordinated by the Administrative Officer of the Division; and
(6) Performs other duties as and may be required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: Equivalent to graduation from secondary school with thorough training in secretarial/administrative duties.
Experience
Essential: At least five years of relevant administrative experience.
Desirable: Relevant experience in WHO or another UN agency an asset. Experience in Oracle-based or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems an asset.
Skills
Proficiency in the use of modern office technology through in-house courses, on-the-job training or self-training. Knowledge in procedures and practices, rules and regulations, organizational structure in the division, the Regional Office and WHO, to be able to brief others and explain procedures.Ability to work harmoniously as a member of a team, adapt to diverse educational and cutlural backgrounds and maintain a high standard of personal conduct.

REMUNERATION
WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at PHP 631,953 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
