Alina Vision (AV) is working to bring about a world in which no person will suffer needless blindness or visual impairment. We seek to scale affordable eye care into new markets by launching a global network of eye hospitals. We use a for-profit social enterprise model supported by centralized financing and operational technical assistance. Our surgery centers will deliver high-quality eye care for people of all income groups, actively reaching out to serve those excluded from mainstream healthcare systems. Alina Vision is headquartered in Singapore, and is owned by Australian international development organisation The Fred Hollows Foundation and listed multi-national pharmaceutical organisation ROHTO.  Alina Eye Hospital Social Enterprise (AEHSE), Alina Vision’s first eye hospital, is situated in Ecopark (Hung Yen province) and is growing strongly.

About the Position

Reporting into the CEO of AV who is based in Sydney, Australia, the COO is accountable for leading the AV group’s business operations to ensure productivity, efficiency and compliance.  Line managing two direct reports based in Hanoi, the COO will operationalise the strategy and will consistently consider - “how can we better prepare the company to scale and grow”.

Responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with and support the CEO to set and drive AV’s strategy (both group- & hospital-level strategy), optimise the business model, as well as support fund raising and investor/funder relations;

• Lead and oversee AV’s Operations functions to ensure execution and drive continuous improvement.  Support the functions led by the Medical Director and Finance Manager in the same way;

• Lead group- and hospital-level performance monitoring, analysis and reporting, the latter for both (i) internal and external stakeholders, and (ii) current results and forecasts;

• Oversee and manage AV’s risk and control environment, ensuring good governance, effective risk management and full organisational compliance;

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with key partners and stakeholders, to further AV’s goals;

• Lead the scoping of new initiatives and concepts and, if shown to be feasible, the development of supporting plans.  Drive new market and business development, and lead planning and execution; and as an AV Leadership team member, build the AV organisational culture, ensuring team members thrive and organisational outcomes are met

QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS:

• 7-10 years + proven experience in a COO or similar senior multi-functional role

• Bilingual, with excellent Vietnamese and English

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)

• Designing, implementing and continuously improving operational functions to deliver improved business (including patient) outcomes

• Experience working in or with a hospital network

• Experience in / working with an organisation operating cross-border / internationally

• Good understanding of governance, risk and compliance

• Demonstrated competency in business development and strategic planning
