Communications Intern

Joseph S. Nye, Jr. Communications interns work directly with the Communications team, gaining experience in a range of activities including media relations and monitoring, multimedia support, event planning and execution, social media outreach, website administration, database management, writing marketing materials and press releases, copyediting, and external relations writ large. Applicant experience with A/V skills to include video editing, podcast production, or event management strongly preferred. Location: Washington, District of Columbia Department: Communications Employment Type: Intern Compensation: $1,500 per month Responsibilities may include:

Work directly on media relations and monitoring;
Support event planning and execution;
Support multimedia/video development;
Conduct social media outreach;
Monitor the Center's media hits, including media hits by CNAS experts;
Website administration using a content management system;
Database management (Salesforce); and
Support email marketing efforts using the Center's marketing software (Campaign Monitor and Event Grid).

Candidates with demonstrated interests or experience in the full range of external relations activities including event management, social media and search engine optimization, journalism, media relations, video editing, web and print design, or public relations are encouraged to apply, with emphasis on A/V production. Ideal candidates will be highly motivated, technically savvy, detail oriented and have excellent verbal and written communications skills. Full-time interns are compensated with a stipend of $1,500 monthly intended to help cover the cost of transportation and other daily expenses incurred during the internship.
