OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
 
Background:
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is a specialised international agency that was founded in 1945. Through its activities within the fields of education, social and natural science, culture and communication and information, UNESCO is actively contributing to the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. UNESCO has supported Viet Nam since 1999, starting with the Education and Culture sectors and now expanding to contribute comprehensive assistance to the country in all areas of the organization's expertise.
 
Duration:
 
The duration of the assignment will be 4 months, starting in March 2022. Workplace:
 
This position is a hybrid. The intern will mostly work online with 1 to 2 days per week to present in the office.
 
Work assignment:
 
Under the overall authority of Head of UNESCO Viet Nam Office and under the direct supervision of Communications Officer, the intern will undertake the following tasks, contributing to the (1) organisational communications, (2) projects/programmes’ communications work and (3) communications and information sector of the office.
 
Tasks:
 
- Develop content and illustration for UNESCO’s commemorations
- Produce communications products (graphic design, photo edition, short videos, event visual packages, )
- Support communications officer to manage UNESCO's Viet Nam’s social media
- Support communications officer to develop and implement communications plans and campaigns
- Provide translation (English – Vietnamese and vice versa) for communications content, communications products, media inquiries, etc
- Support on assignments of communications and information sector
- Other ad-hoc tasks requested by the direct supervisor and the UNESCO Representative

Who can apply?
 
You can apply for an internship if:
- You have completed your full-time university studies (bachelor's degree or equivalent) at a university or equivalent institution prior to commencing the assignment; or
- You are enrolled in a graduate programme (second university degree or Master's degree or equivalent, or higher), at the time of application; or
- You have recently graduated with a university degree (first or second degree as defined above), within the last 12

Languages: You should have an excellent command, both written and spoken, of English; good translation skill (English – Vietnamese); Good written and spoken English is an
Computer skills: Strong graphic design, photo edition and video production skills;
Committed working time: 20 hours per week including 5 hours per week available during office time (8:30am – 5:30pm, Monday to Friday);
Demonstrated personal sensitivity and commitment to the values and principles of equity, gender equality and cultural diversity;
SELECTION PROCESS
 
First round: Interested candidates should send their applications to
 
th.hoang@unesco.org by 20 March 2022. The application must include 1) a CV and 2) a portfolio with examples of graphic design work (a portfolio link integrated in the CV is also acceptable).
 
Second round: Short-listed candidates will be provided a creative brief to submit their communications work (including a graphic design product and its description/caption). This work will be published on UNESCO Office in Viet Nam’s social media with credit to the author. The online interaction for this work will not affect the selection result.
