1. About the Global Alliance on Health and Pollution (GAHP)

The Global Alliance on Health and Pollution (GAHP) is a collaborative body of members and dozens of observers that advocate for resources and solutions to pollution problems.  GAHP’s overall goal is to reduce death and illness caused by all forms of toxic pollution, including air, water, soil and chemical wastes especially in low and middle- income countries. GAHP incorporated as a foundation in Geneva, Switzerland.
About the project
- The Defra funded project is targeting both agrochemicals and open burning of agricultural land to reduce the impacts of agriculture. -  Key audiences for the external communications and associated products are Vietnamese government officials, multilateral and bilateral funding agencies (DEFRA, EU, USAID, etc…), academia and international and Vietnamese NGOs/civil society, local and international press. -  This project will require coordination with different stakeholders located in Vietnam, UK and Switzerland and other countries, as well as a suite of vendors/service providers. -  Consultant must be able and available to conduct work during two time zone, when needed: Switzerland and Vietnam.

2. Position Overview

GAHP is currently seeking a qualified motivated and detail-oriented, Communications Consultant for a time period: 1st February 2024- 31 March 2024 (with potential for extension to 2025) who will be primarily responsible for:
- Planning:
drafting a communication plan for the activities related to the project, including milestones, key deliverables, and deadlines. Plan or support site visits and events when required.
Compliance:
revise existing guidelines and provide inputs. Ensuring all external communications are properly coordinated with and approved by project partners in Vietnam, GAHP management and DEFRA before their release (including partners ‘communication material)
- External Relations and project management: 
set up local meetings with partners, participating into Global communication meetings with Defra/GAHP, when required.  Create visibility and awareness about GAHP’s work in Vietnam and partners (Vacne/RA). Coordinate, meet regularly with and manage external vendors and report progress to GAHP management.
- Writing:
editing, preparing materials and articles for the newsletter, website, social medial posts, on both in Vietnamese and English. Editing the website content (or provide material) for the page related to the Vietnam project, occasionally update other part of the website might be required. Writing compelling stories and reports, as well as concise updates and posts.
- Administration:
perform necessary administrative tasks related to this job and occasionally others, as assigned by GAHP Secretariat. The consultant will report to the GAHP Executive Director and coordinate on project deliverables with GAHP Senior Program Manager and Country Project Coordinator.

Scope of Work

The Communications Consultant- Vietnam will be responsible for the following:
- Documenting the activities, outcomes, and impact/results of Environmental Pollution Program in Vietnam, in coordination with GAHP Senior Program Manager.
- Ensuring all media products conform with GAHP, DEFRA, and Vietnamese partner requirements and branding in collaboration with other Communications Manager-s when applicable.
-  Coordinating delivery/timing of outputs.
-  Provide weekly updates as relevant, and monthly reports and presentation-s both in Vietnamese and English.
-  Communications products /outputs expected include but are not limited to:
+  Creation of video and or stock footage
+ Production of a promotional video for on YouTube and or other social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram
+ Content creation for articles/blog posts/ feature stories and the GAHP website
+  Creation, editing of still photos (stock) or other pictures as needed.
+ Creation of presentations for targeted and or general public.
+  Conducting interviews with project experts, partners, stakeholders and community members
+  Creation of social media posts, and other relevant media assets.
-  Materials developed should focus on compelling storytelling with a sense of urgency, and result in high-quality creative outputs.
-  Consultant should be prepared to share drafts of working plan and first material by  mid-February.
-  All documents, images and videos produced by the consultant under this project are GAHP property and should be saved in GAHP archive (Box).

Successful consultant will be asked to take part in the Phase 2 (i.e. April 2024-July 2024) . For this second phase of work. This phase will include:

-   Launch and establish social media channels for GAHP to build audience engagement.
-   Generating compelling content representing the work of the project.
-   Conduct media outreach to get press coverage in Vietnam, neighbouring countries, Europe, US etc. to raise awareness of agrochemical use and open burning focusing on solutions that GAHP and partners are championing. Work with partners and stakeholders in media outreach.
-   Outputs may include press releases, email and telephone calls to media targets to pitch key messages resulting in three pieces of coverage in either print, web, radio/tv or broadcast coverage.
-   Coordinate and generate content production for GAHP newsletter and relevant communications content,  Graphic design for GAHP program outputs.
-   Schedule meetings, prepare meeting agendas and additional tasks as relevant.
-   Assist GAHP to identify opportunities for media and communications, joint panels/presentations, and events with GAHP network and support their development as relevant.

Qualifications:

-    Bachelor’s degree in communication related field and minimum of 7 years of experience, or a Master’s and 5 years of experience
-    Excellent content writing, editing, presentation preparation, and interviewing skills.
-    Fluency in English and Vietnamese
-    Proven track record of creating and producing compelling media pieces (video, multimedia, graphic and print)
-   Experience working with UK DEFRA/ UK AID marking and branding communications guidelines a plus. Strong project management experience
-   Securing media coverage for issues, projects, and organizations.
-   Seeing projects through to completion.
-   Delivering work products on-time in a very tight delivery period
-    Willing to contribute to other projects/communication material if needed.
-    Must possess a high level of attention to detail.
-    Experience establishing and growing digital and social media channels for at least three years.
-    Experience implementing strategic communications goals and engaging partners and stakeholders.
-   Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud and or other software’s such as in design, Illustrator
-   Experience/knowledge in pollution, environmental, public health highly preferred.
