Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)  

Main purpose of job:

We are looking for 02 dynamic, creative and proactive individuals to join our Communications Team at the British Embassy Hanoi and British Consulate-General Ho Chi Minh City, delivering internal and external communications activities.
The job holders will support the Communications Team in effectively communicating the UK's activities and advocacy to audiences in Vietnam through various channels to positively influence perceptions and thinking about the UK.
The job holders will need to work closely with different policy teams in the UK in Vietnam Network (Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City) to ensure coherent messaging and engagement.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

Tasks will include but are not limited to:
Content creation:
  • Assisting in developing and executing communication plans utilising social media platforms, traditional media channels, and direct messaging;
  • Collaborating with relevant stakeholders to develop compelling and engaging written content, ensuring it aligns with the embassy's objectives and target audiences;
  • Producing and distributing high-quality promotional materials including graphics and video;
  • Assisting in photography and filming at events and visits where necessary.
Social media management:
  • Supporting the management and maintenance of social media platforms, ensuring consistent and active engagement with followers;
  • Assisting in monitoring and analysing social media performance metrics to optimise content strategies and enhance audience engagement;
  • Translating communication materials in to Vietnamese/English for use on social media and press materials.
Internal Communications
  • Assisting in developing and implementing internal communication plans to ensure effective information flow within the embassy and the UK in Vietnam Network.
  • Utilising technical skills to create visually appealing and informative materials for internal communications purposes.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Vietnamese, with the ability to adapt messages for different audiences.
  • Proficiency in content creation tools and software, including graphic design and video editing software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a team and engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

  • Relevant qualification in communications, marketing, public relations, etc.
  • Familiarity with UK culture

  • Employment offers are subject to successful clearance of pre-employment and security checks. Staff who are locally recruited by the British Embassy are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local employment law.

  • Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.

Working patterns:

This is a full-time post with 39.5 of working hours per week. The Consulate would be willing to discuss flexible working options.
