Community Liaison Office (CLO) Student Intern (The U.S Embassy)

GENERAL INFORMATION:

  • OPEN TO: All non-U.S. citizen university students residing in Vietnam
  • POSITION:  Community Liaison Office (CLO) Student Intern (1 in-person & 1 virtual intern)
  • OPENING DATE: September 9, 2024
  • CLOSING DATE: September 23, 2024
  • WORK HOURS: Part-time (10-20 hours/week)
  • LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP PROGRAM: Up to six months
  • INTERNSHIP DURATION: March 2025 – September 2025
  The U.S. Mission Vietnam – U.S. Embassy in Ha Noi is seeking one (1) in-person and one (1) virtual, part-time, unpaid university student interns for the Community Liaison Office (CLO). NOTE:  Due to the high volume of applications received, we will only contact applicants who are qualified and will be invited for further testing and/or interview.  Thank you for your understanding.    

BASIC FUNCTIONS OF POSITION

The CLO Student Internship benefits both the U.S. Embassy and students by providing a valuable educational and job-training experience to students while assisting the U.S. Embassy in accomplishing important mission goals.   CLO Student Interns will be responsible for: 1) Office management support; 2) Flyers and newsletters creation/edition; 3) Event planning support.    

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must address the requirements listed below with specific information supporting each item.  Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.
  1. Students must be at least 18 years old at the time of participation in the program.
  2. Students who are either Vietnamese citizens or Vietnamese permanent legal residents are eligible for the intern program. For permanent legal residents, a valid legal residency permit is required for consideration.
  3. Students must be in good academic standing at their current educational institution and provide a certified transcript and must provide written permission from the educational institution in which the student is enrolled.
  4. Students must be currently enrolled as a college/university student in Vietnam through the entire duration of the internship.
  1. Student must be able to obtain and hold the medical and security certification from the Embassy.
 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENT

  1. College/University studies in business administration, marketing, graphic design, communication, or public relations.
  2. Fluent in speaking, reading & writing in English (this will be tested).
  3. Fluent in speaking, reading & writing in Vietnamese.
  4. Community Engagement and Communication: Effective interaction with community members through strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, and an understanding of diverse cultural contexts and local resources.
  5. Organizational and Problem-Solving and Digital Proficiency: Ability to manage tasks, solve problems creatively, adapt to changing circumstances, maintain attention to detail, and use digital tools and platforms effectively.
PLEASE NOTE: INTERNS ARE NOT CONSIDERED U.S. EMBASSY EMPLOYEES
  • The intern will not be considered as a Federal employee.
  • There will be NO employment benefits associated with this position: annual leave accrual, sick leave, etc.
  • There will be NO compensation or payment.

  1. Statement of interest form which should include the student's objectives and motivation in seeking an internship and how their academic courses and other experiences relate (Attached).
  2. Gratuitous Service Agreement (Attached).
  3. Official transcripts illustrating good academic standing.
  4. Written permission from the educational institution.
  5. A copy of ID card and student card.
  6. Any additional documents (e.g., essays, certificates, awards, copies of degrees earned, etc.) that address the qualification requirements of the position as listed above.
