CONSULTANCY SERVICE – TRAINER FOR LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Agriterra (www.agriterra.org) is a Dutch agency that aims to professionalize farmers' organizations and cooperatives worldwide, with advice from experts from the Dutch agricultural sector. Agriterra’ s opinion is that strong farmers’ organizations and cooperatives lead to more participation, economic growth and a better distribution of income. Agriterra focus on economic development and work closely together with the Dutch agribusiness.

The Green Annamites Project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The Green Annamites project supports the governments and people in Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue provinces to strengthen forest protection and management, biodiversity conservation, improve and create sustainable alternative livelihoods, and improve adaptive capacity of vulnerable communities, especially ethnic minority groups who depend on forests. Agriterra has selected 15 units that have enough commitments and conditions to continue its support to improve the efficiency of production and business, bring more economic and social benefits to members and the community.

Cooperatives are a form of collective economy, with specific characteristics (both an association and a business). Cooperative leaders are both smart enough to approach and work with external business partners, and smart enough to deal with the members of the cooperative (both are internal customers of the cooperative), therefore requires differences in leadership, management and governance. Meanwhile, 15 units selected in the framework of this project were either newly established or established long ago and transfered under the Law on Cooperatives 2012, which were ineffective, not competitive with other small and medium enterprises in the area, operating mainly in rural and mountainous areas, therefore, still face many difficulties in attracting and managing human resources, especially young people (concurrently holding many different roles in cooperatives (such as: Chairman cum Director of Cooperatives; Leaders of cooperatives always takes care of production activities, markets) so it is not really separating the roles of Governance and Management in the cooperatives ... Based on the actual situation and support needs of most cooperatives in the project, Agriterra plans to organize Leadership and human resource management skills training for cooperative leaders. Agriterra is looking for a trainer to provide this training, please find attached TOR for further information.
