How can you make a difference?

The Programme Coordination Section, UNICEF Thailand Country Office (TCO) is seeking a consultant to support the field planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of the plan in regard to COVID-19 pandemic and other emergency situation which may arise such as flood, landside, etc. and to support the office to coordinate the Emergency Preparedness and Response plan. Work Assignment:

Under the guidance and oversight of the Deputy Representative:

  • Coordinates the work of the Emergency Preparedness and Response team, ensuring the implementation and monitoring of plans of action and workplans for emergency project.
  • Keeps the effective flow of information and communication on emergency preparedness and response issues, crucial for the planning and implementation of emergency measures.
  • With guidance from the Deputy Representative, formulates plans of action in preparation and response to emergencies.
  • With guidance from the Deputy Representative, co-ordinates assessment of local emergency and security situation and determination of priorities and formulation of appropriate interventions by UNICEF.
  • Coordinates with UNICEF/EAPRO and other partners to conduct rapid assessments covering priority areas as defined by the Core Commitment for Children in Emergencies.
  • Coordinates the timely delivery of UNICEF assistance and procurement of supplies and monitors the appropriate and effective use of UNICEF resources. In coordination with the sectional teams, identifies problems and constraints in project delivery.
  • Coordinates with external partners.
  • Assist in resource mobilization.
  • Assists in organizing staff training for the office’s capacity building in emergencies preparedness and response.
  • Compile, synthesize, and draft relevant reports –donors, SitReps, data monitoring (and Annual Report) in UN RBM language.
  • Where applicable and needed, support the development, review and editing of key messages, briefs, social media posts, media materials and content related to the Humanitarian Preparedness and Response in English before publishing.

 Work ScheduleConsultant will be paid on a monthly basis upon submission of summary report on agreed work assignment. 

End Product(s):  Finalized reports and documents as per agreed work assignments.

Duration of Contract:  20 working days per month between January - December 2022 (For 11.5 months).

Working Location:  Consultant will be required to visit UNICEF Thailand office in Bangkok regularly but the frequency will be discussed and confirmed with the Supervisor. All office supplies and materials will be provided by the Consultant.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Advanced University degree in one of the following fields: social sciences, public health, international or public relations, business administration, communication, or other related disciplines.
  • Progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in programme/project development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and administration.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in emergency preparedness planning and coordination.
  • Experience working with UNICEF and/or the United Nations system.
  • Familiarity with Thailand and the work of UNICEF Thailand will be an asset.
  • Strong technical skills in editing, reporting and consolidation of quality documents and reports.
  • English fluency and strong oral and written communications skills.
