Consultant to Facilitate Training on Building Production Management Process

Agriterra (www.agriterra.org) is a Dutch agency that aims to professionalize farmers' organizations and cooperatives worldwide, with advice from experts from the Dutch agricultural sector. Agriterra’ s opinion is that strong farmers’ organizations and cooperatives lead to more participation, economic growth and a better distribution of income. Agriterra focus on economic development and work closely together with the Dutch agribusiness.

The Green Annamites Project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The Green Annamites project supports the governments and people in Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue provinces to strengthen forest protection and management, biodiversity conservation, improve and create sustainable alternative livelihoods, and improve adaptive capacity of vulnerable communities, especially ethnic minority groups who depend on forests.

Under the framework of the implementation of the component "Supporting the establishment and strengthening of cooperatives" of the USAID-supported Truong Son Xanh Project, Agriterra has selected 15 cooperatives with enough commitments and conditions to continue its support to improve the efficiency of production and business, bring more economic and social benefits to members and the community.

Cooperatives are a form of collective economy, with specific characteristics (both an association and a business), so cooperatives need to build & manage production and business activities as an enterprise to survive and thrive. Meanwhile, 15 selected cooperatives in the framework of this project were mostly established on the basis of production activities of the members, with the goal of joining forces to bring products to market, therefore not yet paying much attention to production management - one of the factors that helps the cooperative to be active in production and business activities, minimize risks, reduce costs, resulting in inefficient and uncompetitive activities with small and medium enterprises in the area.

Based on the actual situation and support needed of most cooperatives within the project, Agriterra plans to organize a training in building production management processes in cooperatives from 6^th – 8^th May 2020. Agriterra is looking for a consultant to facilitate the training, please find attached TOR for further information.
