Courier Escort/Mail Room Clerk


Duties

Escorts classified pouches as required in authorized vehicles to and from the airport. Performs all arrival and departure logistics for incoming and out-going classified pouches and support flights. Oversees pouch transfer to ensure pouches are stored and loaded into the aircraft per regulations.

Processes all incoming and outgoing mail, packages, etc. for authorized users. Provides assistance to customers regarding general postal issues and the USPS Click-N-Ship website. Maintains the USPS Click-N-Ship computer workstation and provides instruction to customers. Opens and sorts incoming mail by organization, function, and person. Processes outgoing DPO and diplomatic pouch packages and letters.  Tracks insured and certified mail. Responds to customer queries about DPO and diplomatic pouch services. Manages and returns all unnecessary pouch bags.

Prepares and submits required reports and correspondence, maintains accountable records, and files reports within prescribed time frames.

Requirements:

  • One year of clerical experience is required.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Mission agencies, organizations, embassy offices, sections, and personnel.
  • Knowledge of DPO, diplomatic pouch, and U.S. Postal Service regulations.
  • Knowledge of local customs procedures when sending and receiving DPO and pouch mail.
  • Education Requirements:
  • Completion of High School is required.
Evaluations:
  • Level 4 (Fluent) in written and oral English is required.
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and hold a Top Secret clearance.
Qualifications:
  • Must be able to operate standard office machines, scales, calculator, and computer.
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks, drag and manipulate diplomatic pouch bags weighing 25 kg.
