Background The Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) is a large-scale clinical and public health research unit, with sites offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in Vietnam, Jakarta in Indonesia and Kathmandu in Nepal. In Vietnam, we are hosted by the Hospital of Tropical Diseases (HTD) in Ho Chi Minh City, and the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases (NHTD) in Hanoi. OUCRU-Nepal is hosted by the Patan Academy of Health Sciences, and in Indonesia we exist in partnership with the Eijkman Institute as the Eijkman-Oxford Clinical Research Programme (EOCRU). As a Wellcome Trust Africa Asia Programme, we have received considerable support from the Wellcome Trust since our establishment in 1991. OUCRU’s vision is to have local, regional and global impact on health by leading a locally driven research programme on infectious diseases in Southeast Asia. Priority is given to health issues important to the hospitals where we work, and to the countries as a whole where we operate: Vietnam, Indonesia and Nepal. All work is intended not only to benefit the patients seen daily at our host hospitals, but also to help improve patient care throughout Southeast Asia. Job summary OUCRU is part of the Critical Care Asia Network – a network of 42 Asian intensive care units (ICUs) in partnership with the Wellcome Innovations Flagship Programme. The aim of the network is to facilitate locally-led quality improvement interventions aiming to improve ICU performance and patient outcomes. Central to this aim is the establishment of an ICU registry in participating centres. The post holder will contribute to the day-to-day running and development of this registry at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases ICU and OUCRU. The registry will include routine clinical data and data from clinical studies.
Key responsibilities and tasks
  • Daily data entry into the electronic database from either study case record forms or hospital records.
  • Verify the completeness of data.
  • Identify missing data or data that cannot be easily entered into the database.
  • Work with ICU staff and Registry IT team (based in Sri Lanka) to optimize the registry – for example choosing which data to include and how best to display this.
  • Other tasks as required.
Selection criteria Essential:
  • Team player, organized, patient, dedicated, and disciplined.
  • Excellent written and spoken Vietnamese.
  • Excellence in typing and computer skills, particularly MS Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Internediate English speaking and reading skills.
  • Experience in clinical data
  • Basic understanding of medical records
  • Experience working in a clinical environment
Desired:
  • Experience in data entry, data management or data systems.
  • Experience in clinical research
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice Guidelines
  • Knowledge of electronic health record system in Vietnam
