We are looking for committed, result-driven candidate for the position of Data Management Senior Officer, “Saving the Saola from the brink of extinction” project, based in Ha Noi, Hue, Quang Tri or Quang Binh (Ha Noi is preferred)

‼️ Major Functions: 

Under the overall direction and supervision of the Wildlife Practice Lead, and with support from the Wildlife Practice Technical Advisor and IUCN Saola National Coordinator for Vietnam, the Project Manager is responsible for project overall management to ensure high quality of the project deliverables to achieve its objectives and goal. This position will manage development and implementation of the project working plan and M&E system; oversee grant/subcontract mechanisms with project implementing partners; and ensure effective collaboration between WWF and key project stakeholders.

‼️ Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design, maintain, and update the project data management system under technical oversight of the Wildlife
  • Practice Technical Advisor, and in collaboration with project implementing partners.
  • Formulate management techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data, including devising and implementation of efficient and secure procedures for data management and analysis with attention to all technical aspects.
  • Design training materials and conduct training sessions for project implementing partners on best practices for data entry, storage and management (e.g. the use of the Wildlife Insights platform) with support from the Wildlife Practice team.
  • Provide technical support as needed to project partners to develop sound research methodologies, questionnaires, conduct surveys, analyze data and write reports to ensure quality of the project’s quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Support and guide project implementing partners on data entry and storage (including camera trapping, interview information, and information on eDNA surveys).
  • Assist analytical partners as needed in defining and/or creating data listings, summary table validation, data specifications and/or process data transfers in preparation for statistical review and/or data management audits
  • Oversee data management workflow, manage data entry and perform data curation duties, including troubleshooting data submission errors from project implementing partners.
  • Follow data management procedures and project timelines as well as meet established deadlines.
  • Ensure the data management system fully operational and accessible to partners implementing or supporting data analysis.
  • Be responsible for data reports (periodical and ad hoc) as well as participate in preparation and presentation of data, as needed.
  • Purchase, manage, and monitor the inventory for all project equipment and devices provided to WWF staff and project implementing partners (i.e. camera traps, batteries, SD cards, GPSs, digital cameras, eDNA kits, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as requested by the Project Manager or his/her designate.

‼️ Required Qualifications

  • A degree in forestry, natural resource management, biology, or other relevant subjects.
  • Basic knowledge of principles of scientific data collection and statistics.
  • At least 5 years of field working experience, preferably in Vietnam, and field surveys experience (including camera trapping and ideally, eDNA sampling and interview surveys).
  • Proven experience as a data analyst and with data management (including camera trapping information and ideally, eDNA sampling and interview surveys).
  • Demonstrable analytical experience and proficiency on the use of mapping and analytical tools (e.g. QGIS, ArcInfo, also R experience is desirable).
  • Experience working with partners, both with governmental and international organizations and institutes.
  • Experience working in multi-cultural environments and with international organizations.
