Mission and objectives
On the ground in about 170 countries and territories, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) works to eradicate poverty while protecting the planet. We help countries develop strong policies, skills, partnerships, and institutions so they can sustain their progress. In Viet Nam, the Government and UNDP partnership officially started in 1978. Since then, UNDP has been working closely with the Government and other partners to expand the choices for people and ensure that everyone has equal access to opportunities to realize their full potentials. The current Country Programme (2017-2021) contributes to three inter-related outcomes of the One UN Strategic Plan for Viet Nam, aiming to address poverty and inequalities; enhance citizen participation and protection of rights; as well as promote sustainable low-carbon development while strengthening the resilience of the targeted groups. - Outcome 1: Poverty eradication and greater socio-economic equity. - Outcome 2: Low-carbon, resilience, and environmentally sustainable development. - Outcome 3: Institutional accountability, people’s voice, and access to justice.
Context
The Online Volunteer will work closely with the UNDP Vietnam Deputy Resident Re to design and layout publications, reports and web pages, and other communications materials assigned to the Volunteer. The Volunteer will closely follow UNDP's graphic guidelines, provide the best possible functionality and usability in the design, and comply with the overall branding process. The documents will support UNDP Vietnam in visualizing key communication of its work.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of the UNDP Vietnam Deputy Resident Representative, the Online Volunteer will support UNDP Vietnam with designing reports and other documents for printing and electronic distribution. To this end, the Online Volunteer will : - Develop infographics and improve/ edit artwork, photos, charts, and other graphic elements. - Layout and design information and communication materials (infographics, PowerPoint presentations) - Comply with UNDP's branding policy and graphics guidelines. - Assist in blog/article writing with active suggestion and detailed proofreading with The expected results and outcome of this assignment are: - Produce 5 quality media products which include 1 UNDP Vietnam brochure design, and 4 infographics (the infographics will have the themes on Just Energy Transition, the legal system for the People with Disability, Governance Participation, Circular Economy, and Blue Economy) - Facilitate the Deputy's work on preparing 5 presentations (the presentations will be the visualization slide on the Net Zero Goal of Vietnam, Vietnam's progress commitment on the COP26, and the related slides on the Climate Change and Environment area)
Requirements
Required experience
- Demonstrates integrity by modeling the UN's values and ethical standards. - Promotes the vision, mission, and strategic goals of UNDP - Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality, and age sensitivity and adaptability. - Initiative and independence. - Work in teams. - A positive, constructive attitude. - Excellent communication (spoken and written) skills, including the ability to convey complex information management concepts and recommendations to staff at all levels, both orally and in writing, in a clear, concise style that non-information management practitioners can readily understand; and - Ability to deliver high-quality results on time. Qualifications: - Fluent English and Vietnamese, preferably both languages at native level — the deliverables must be presented in both languages according to the audience. - Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate and work with diverse people; Participate effectively in the team-based, information-sharing environment, collaborating and cooperating with others. - A proven track record of experience volunteering or working with NGO/CSO is an advantage. - Excellent ability to use essential computer software (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) is required. Basic web image, layout, and design, and video editing ability will be an advantage. - Tactful and responsible, able to keep the information confidential. - Able to analyze and think strategically.
