Title: Disability Program Intern
Reports to: Disability Program Manager
Location: Hanoi
Timeframe: Six months
BACKGROUND
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is a US non-governmental organization that has been operating in Vietnam since 1994. In partnership with government, civil society and communities, CRS implements programs in 12 provinces/cities in Vietnam. The Vietnam Program has a diverse funding base in the sectors of Disabilities, Mine Risk Education and Landmine Survivors’ Assistance and Disaster Risk Reduction. CRS Vietnam is part of the Mekong Sub-region along with the Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar programs.
CRS disability program team is implementing two projects to support persons and children with disabilities. The first project of “Sustainable and interdisciplinary rehabilitation services for Persons with severe Disabilities is implemented in Binh Dinh and Quang Nam Province” (called as Hold My Hand project) using funding from USAID. The second project of ““Improve Social Inclusion, Health care and Education of children and youth with disabilities through joint actions by local stakeholders and networks” (hereafter called as I-SHINE project) is implemented in QuangNam and QuangTri provinces using funding from Caritas Australia.
The disability program team is looking for an intern to support with the following tasks. This is also an opportunity for intern to learn from the development projects as well as activities to support persons with disabilities:
Main Responsibilities
Translate internal documents and emails from Vietnamese to English and vice versa;
Provide translation for non-Vietnamese CRS staff and international consultant at informal meetings and events;
Edit and organize English and Vietnamese documents under the supervision of CRS staff;
Support project team with administrative and financial papers of the project activities under the instruction and assignment of the disability program team;
Participate in meetings (internal and with external partners) and prepare meeting minutes;
Participate in the implementation of project activities (training, workshops, events…) to provide logistic support under specific instruction and assignment of the disability program team;
Participate in the monitoring trips with program team staff to provide necessary logistic and administrative support if appropriate;
Support in document project papers and data as instructed by the disability program team members;
Participate in relevant CRS meetings to learn from CRS essential policies or updates;
Follow CRS policy for the internship.
Qualifications
University degree in foreign language, social science, or public health;
Knowledge of disability or child protection is a plus;
Sound written and spoken English skills required;
Computer skills (MS Word and Excel).
