Summary:

The U.S. Mission in Hanoi is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Economic Assistant in the Economic Office, the U.S. Embassy Hanoi.

Supervisory Position: No

Relocation Expenses Reimbursed: No

Travel Required: Not Required

Duties

Support the Economic Section on a variety of economic issues for all of Vietnam. Become the subject matter expert in the areas assigned and responsible for reporting and actively engaging on economics in Vietnam.

Develop a wide range of contacts within the government, business and civil society to promote US-Vietnamese cooperation.

Support official visitors including State Department, Congressional and Staff delegations.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

Thorough understanding of U.S. policies, as well as familiarity with investment topics; familiarity with Vietnam's business community.

Strong written and oral communication skills; sound policy judgment; able to work well with others.

Must be able to obtain and hold a Department of State SECRET Security Clearance.

Education Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in economics, political science, international relations, or business is required.

Must have computer skills, be able to create Excel documents, navigate databases and create documents.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level 4 Native-speaker fluency in English is required. Vietnamese language is not required.

Qualifications:

Agency Benefits: For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office. The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
