Hagar was established in 1994 in Cambodia. In 2009, Hagar expanded its model to Afghanistan and Vietnam. Our focus is on working with women and children who are suffering from the impact of trauma resulting from slavery, trafficking and abuse. We seek to magnify the impact of this work with individuals and families through our advocacy and capacity building work with other service providers and institutions.
Hagar, a specialist trauma-informed care agency, established in 1994 in Cambodia, serves women and children who have survived severe exploitation and human rights abuse. In 2009, Hagar expanded its model of long-term, individualized trauma-informed care in Afghanistan and Vietnam. In each context, Hagar is committed to the recovery of each client to wholeness providing support and facilitating access to social services including: protection, safe accommodation, health, education, life skills, vocational training, legal support, economic livelihoods, psychosocial counselling and therapeutic arts, and recovery. All our work encompasses our values: Respect, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence.
To maximize Hagar’s impact and sustainability, we are building the capacity of other organisations (local and international), and scaling up knowledge about trauma informed care of government authorities and mass organisation representatives through Hagar’s specialised model of care and support.
