The successful candidates will be placed on a roster to be assigned work as demand emerges. The objectives of the work assignments will be to raise a deeper understanding and awareness of the different manifestations of racism and racial discrimination in the workplace of the United Nations and to facilitate the institutionalization of ways to identify, prevent and address racism in the Organization.

The position is expected to become available on 1 December 2020 to 30 November 2021, subject to the availability of funds.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the designated Focal Point in the Office of the Ombudsman and Mediation Services, the consultant will provide expertise on Diversity & Inclusion with a particular focus on racism. The consultant will undertake the following tasks during different phases of the campaign: - Support the design of various modules of group activities leading up a safe space to discuss amongst staff and between staff and leaders. - Provide input into the facilitation of the topic of racism. - Augment the capacity of the delivery during the implementation of dialogues. - Capture and support the analysis of the ways racism shows up systemically and institutionally, including report writing. - Supports delivery of all modules and facilitation in the new virtual environment, including designing sessions for a virtual environment and co-facilitation in virtual space.

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in social sciences, organizational development, public administration, human resources management, diversity & inclusion studies, anthropology and related fields. Experience: 10 to 15 years of relevant experience preferably at the international levels working with diverse audiences. Language: English and/or French required. Additional fluency in UN official languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish) highly desirable.
