POSITION SUMMARY:
The Finance & Operations Manager is a member of the leadership team of CHANGE. At this senior level in the organization, the Finance & Operations Manager is responsible for providing internal customer service by planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities of the organization and supporting the Board of Managers in meeting their fiduciary responsibilities. This includes direct responsibility for accounting, finance, banking, forecasting, cost allocations, and supervision of the fiscal office staff. Besides, the Finance & Operations Manager will be responsible for promoting an effective administrative infrastructure that serves all CHANGE’S programs and staff. All fiscal and operational functions support the effectiveness, growth, and sustainability of CHANGE.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Finance Management (60%): 1.1. Reporting to the Executive Director and Managing Director, the Finance & Operations Manager will:- Monitor accounting operations including oversight of accounts payable and receivable, and maintenance of the general ledger;
- Prepare, analyze and present financial reports (income statements per donor, balance sheets) in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements to the BOM;
- Lead the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; Ensure annual budget serves as a guide for all financial activities during the year and achieving financial sustainability; Monitor progress and changes and produce monthly budget/forecast versus actual reports;
- Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting;
- Oversee audit and tax functions, coordinate activities with outside audit/accounting firms and review firms’ performance;
- Develop appropriate investment strategies and oversee their implementation;
- Produce financial reports for CHANGE and each grant; Ensure grants’ budget proposals and financial reports meet donors' expectations and are matched with CHANGE’s annual budget;
- Update and implement all necessary financial policies and accounting practices; periodically update the organization’s accounting manual;
- Remain up-to-date on best practices in nonprofit finance, business systems and internal control measures and relating Governmental regulations;
- Manage finance officer and intern (if any); train them and work with them to deliver all financial services at CHANGE;
- Build relationships with banks, donors, vendors, outside consultants and others as needed to keep close to CHANGE’s major expenditures and sources of revenue;
- Supervise operations officer(s) (Admin-HR); work with them on work plans and ensure they deliver the tasks and meet KPIs;
- Maintain and update staff payroll input including tabulation of accrued employee benefits;
- Processing of statistical data;
- Drive initiatives in the management team and organizationally that contribute to long-term operational excellence;
- Management of organizational budget in coordination with the ED, MD, and BOM;
- Direct and manage in-situ organizational goals and mandates;
- Contribute to short and long-term organizational planning and strategy as a member of the management team;
- Uphold organization policies and standards, ensuring legislative regulations are followed;
- Work closely with human resources to lead team with integrity and establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment
QUALIFICATIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a financial management leadership position;
- Experience with nonprofits strongly preferred;
- Extensive experience with setting, oversight of and application of financial related policies and procedures and strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, internal controls, cost accounting and cost allocation methods;
- Successful experience leading and supervising financial staff including professional accountants and support staff;
- Extensive working knowledge of Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and a variety of accounting software packages;
- Ability to work in both a leadership and support role simultaneously;
- Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis;
- Ability to work flexible hours, and under stress and pressure
- Willingness to travel occasionally for relevant meetings and trainings
EDUCATION:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting. Finance background preferred;
