- DFAT is seeking to build on its existing First Assistant Secretary (Senior Executive Service Band 2) capability, to broaden and deepen our strong executive leadership team with highly talented, skilled individuals who excel at working collegiately, have an eye to the future, can anticipate and respond to the changing world and can agilely manage resources to achieve outcomes in complex, demanding circumstances.
📌GENERAL INFORMATION:

- provide specialist, strategic and high-level advice to Senior Executive,
- oversee implementation of administered and departmental programs and budgets,
- consult, negotiate, and liaise with internal stakeholders and other government agencies,
- chair interdepartmental and inter-governmental meetings, appear before parliamentary committees and represent the department at conferences/meetings,
- provide leadership, including guiding, mentoring and advising areas within the Group and Division to promote quality outputs, and
- develop an environment that ensures efficient planning, effective risk management, continuous improvement and coordinated service delivery focus.
📌REQUIREMENTS:
In addition to your outstanding leadership capabilities, to be a contender for these roles, you will have a proven track record of delivering high quality outcomes, achieved through:- extensive experience in the provision of high level, evidence-based advice,
- an appreciation of the challenges of working on a large, geographically dispersed, and complex organisation,
- excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgement and stakeholder engagements skills,
- ability to deliver large-scale reform,
- demonstrated experience in managing complex projects and/or programs in challenging environments, and proven ability to brief Senior Executives, Ministers and stakeholders.
