The Mekong River Commission (MRC) is the only inter-governmental agency that works directly with the governments of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Viet Nam on their common specific interests – joint management of shared water resources and sustainable development of the Mekong River.

As a regional facilitating and advisory body governed by water and environment ministers of the four countries, the MRC aims to ensure that (a) the Mekong water is managed and developed in the most efficient and sustainable manner that mutually benefits all Member Countries and (b) minimize harmful effects on people and the environment in the Lower Mekong Basin.

FISHERIES MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST

Environmental Management Division, MRC Secretariat. M-12 Step 1 (USD41,670 base salary per annum) plus other benefit package as mentioned in the Job Description MRC Secretariat in Vientiane, Lao PDR Fixed-term Appointment / One-year contract with annual renewal for a maximum of 6 years.

Job Summary:

The jobholder is responsible for activities related to fisheries management including supporting the implementation and update of the basin-wide fisheries management and development strategy. In collaboration with other specialists in the Division and with other Divisions, he or she will contribute to the MRC Indicattor framework, basin-wide assessments, studies, surveys and researches related to fisheries issues required by other specialists and Divisions.

Job Requirements:

Certificate:	University degree (Master or higher) in fisheries science, aquatic science, aquaculture, ecosystem management, or in other relevant fields
Additional Certificates:	TOEIC certificate with 600 points and over is required. An equivalent internationally recognized certificate or a university degree from an internationally recognized academic institution whose instruction is in English may also be considered.
Experience:	Minimum 10 years of experience in fisheries management and governance; Preferably 7 years of experience in management of complex project; Preferably 5 years of experience in bilateral, international relations.
