📍JOB DESCRIPTION:
- The New Zealand Embassy in Ha Noi is seeking a Policy Adviser, Interpreter/Translator to help advance and support New Zealand’s interests. The position is for a fixed term of 8 months. We are seeking applicants with policy, research and translation experience, strong networking skills, and familiarity with government agencies and processes. We welcome and encourage applications from all backgrounds.
- This is a busy and stimulating job, and offers the scope to learn more about New Zealand’s foreign policy and to make a significant contribution to the work of the Embassy. This position is a broad and varied role which will encompass trade, education, media outreach, political and security issues. There may also be an opportunity for some domestic travel.
- Vietnamese and New Zealand government agencies and other embassies, and undertaking logistical support for official meetings and visits. You’ll need to be able to communicate clearly, manage tasks effectively and be flexible, adaptable and resourceful in how you go about your work. A positive attitude and a good sense of humour will go a long way in helping you fit quickly into our small, friendly team.
📍JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Key skills, experience and personal attributes required:
- A suitable tertiary qualification and relevant work experience;
- Fluency in both English and Vietnamese (written and spoken);
- Policy and research experience within the Viet Nam government, the private sector, embassies or other international organisations, ideally in a diplomatic context;
- Proven research and analytical skills with emphasis on accuracy to detail;
- High proficiency delivering substantial sequential oral interpretation, and accurate and timely written translation;
- Strong relationship management skills;
- Experience providing logistics support for visiting delegations, including setting up schedules of meetings, organising transport logistics, making hotel and flight bookings, etc;

- Have existing networks of government contacts, preferably in the foreign affairs sector;
- Have experience working with a foreign embassy, an international company or agency;
- Have a passion for getting the job done, and understand the importance of tight and timely execution with strong attention to detail;
- Be available for some possible domestic travel.
