Background information
ASSIST Asia is a self-sustaining Pan-Asian NGO with its HQ in the Philippines and a footprint across South and Southeast Asia. Focused on social improvement and sustainable transformation, we have implemented over 200 projects in 20 countries in the last 15 years with various agencies, including ADB, AfDB, DEG, GIZ, IFC, UNICEF, UNIDO, UNHCR, and the World Bank, as well as private corporations, including Puma, Holcim, Nestle, Philips, and Schneider, amongst others.
ASSIST Creativelab (ACL) is a new yet strategic unit under ASSIST, and it strives to address the communication, visibility, and knowledge management needs of its development stakeholders. We believe the communication and visibility needs of the development sector are not just a function of creativity but, more importantly, of context. ACL offers this unique value proposition.
ACL’s capability and portfolio span across communications research, knowledge management, including e-learning, campaigns and advocacy, creative design, event activation and management, digital marketing, and branding. ACL currently manages creative projects in over 10 countries.

About the Role
We are looking for a talented freelance creative writer based in Vietnam, who can collaborate on certain projects with our team. As a creative writer, you will be given the responsibility of creating captivating and engaging material in a wide range of genres and types. To create engaging narratives, articles, blog posts, social media content, and other written materials that are appealing to the target audience, you will collaborate with clients, editors, and other team members.
Role and Responsibilities
- Conduct research before and during the writing process.
- Prepare material for assignments, which includes planning, outline, and synopsis.
- Conduct thorough fact-checking before submitting any work.
- Ensure the logical flow of all writing produced.
- Join feedback sessions and make revisions suggested by the client, publisher, or editors.
- Go to training sessions and workshops as required.
Qualifications/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in writing, communication, language, marketing, or similar
- Prior experience working with any development sector organization or project is must.
- Fluency in English and Vietnamese is mandatory
- Evidence of writing experience (links to published work would be advantageous)
- Critical reading and thinking skills.
- An interest in current events and a general thirst for knowledge.
- Resilience and the ability to accept constructive feedback
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent eye for detail
- Deadline-oriented
- Time Management Skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
