ROLE PURPOSE:
Save the Children has agreed an ambitious new global strategy for 2022-24, and has developed an accompanying Global Funding Framework to inform and shift how Save the Children can work together as a movement to drive greater funding impact for children. By 2024 our ambition is for Save the Children to be a +$3bn organisation, with institutional funding constituting more than 60% and, of which, humanitarian emergency response remains the largest focus of that funding. Growing, diversifying and optimising our institutional income – especially our institutional humanitarian income - will therefore be critical to achieving this ambition, and success in this area will be dependent on changes to our behaviours and ways of working that mark and facilitate a shift to prioritise collective action, collaboration and embed mutual accountability across the Save the Children Movement.
This exciting new role - Head of / Global Lead, Institutional Humanitarian Funding - will therefore specifically focus on driving the generation of both restricted and unrestricted growth across Save the Children’s institutional humanitarian work from the world’s largest bilateral and multilateral sources. To do this, the post holder will strengthen and improve institutional humanitarian ways of working across teams and offices, improve partnership / account management best practices on institutional humanitarian funding, and maximise the humanitarian response effectiveness of our institutional account management set-up. The role will also support the development of effective communities of practice around institutional funding and partnership management for sharing learnings and best practice globally.
This senior role will therefore lead global initiatives across the Save the Children movement. The work will focus on driving a culture of collective decision-making and action, both strategically and operationally, and will be working closely with senior stakeholders as well as functional experts and delivery teams to create global solutions. The post-holder will work closely and collaboratively with colleagues in SCI Country, Regional, Global and Member Offices, across fundraising, legal, humanitarian, policy & advocacy and programme quality & impact. The role entails significant stakeholder engagement to ensure buy-in for its initiatives, including regular dialogue with the member directors for Humanitarian, Programme, Donor Partnership and/or Fundraising as well as periodic updates to senior leadership groups.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
