ASSIST Asia is a self-sustaining Pan-Asian NGO with its HQ in the Philippines and a footprint across South and Southeast Asia. ASSIST CreativeLab (ACL) is a new yet strategic unit under ASSIST, and it strives to address the communication, visibility, and knowledge management needs of its development stakeholders. We believe the communication and visibility needs of the development sector are not just a function of creativity but, more importantly, of context. ACL offers this unique value proposition.
ACL’s capability and portfolio span across communications research, knowledge management, including e-learning, campaigns and advocacy, creative design, event activation and management, digital marketing, and branding. ACL currently manages creative projects in over 10 countries.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated  freelance Graphic Artist based in Vietnam who possesses a creative flair and a strong ability to translate requirements into design. They should be responsible team players with self-driven abilities, possess stringent, detailed skills in developing creative ideas, and work in a fast-paced, developing environment. An ideal candidate will create and inspire new concepts for client projects using a wide range of media.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Plans and illustrates concepts by designing rough layouts of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size, style, and related aesthetics.
  • Coordinates with internal teams, including marketing, from the design concept phase through completion of a project.
  • Obtains approval of concepts by preparing rough layouts for review.
  • prepares the final layout by marking and pasting up finished copy and art.
  • Obtains final copy and art by operating typesetting, printing, and similar equipment and by making purchases from vendors when required.
  • Ensures operation of design equipment and software by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment.
  • Coordinates with outside agencies, art services, printers, etc. to complete projects.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending design workshops, reviewing professional publications; and participating in professional societies.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic arts, design, communications, or related field
  • Prior experience working with development sector organizations / projects is must.
  • Fluency in English and Vietnamese is mandatory
  • 3-5 years of experience in graphic design.
  • Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, and the web.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, InDesign, and other graphic design software
  • A compelling portfolio of work over a wide range of creative projects
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent eye for detail
  • Deadline-oriented
  • Time Management Skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
