Introduction to Keep Hanoi Clean (KHC)

KHC is a legally registered Vietnamese social enterprise focused on improving environmental awareness and real conditions in terms of land, air, and water quality in the province of Hanoi. Main program areas include Beautification (cleanups, urban gardens, community artwork), Education (public schools and general public), and citizen science research. KHC is concerned primarily with solid waste management and its related public and environmental health issues. KHC is supported by thousands of volunteers and dozens of businesses and organizations. It is through these partnerships that KHC works to have a positive impact in the community.

Position Overview

Responsible for the direction, coordination, implementation, and completion of the Hanoi Province Environmental Conditions (HANPECA) project, while remaining aligned with strategy, commitments and goals of Keep Hanoi Clean. This project aims to scale KHCs activities from individual sequential community activities to simultaneous province wide activities with both urban and rural partners. This involves networking with leaders in the 167 wards and communes of Hanoi, training interested community members in how to use a smartphone application to geolocate community pollution hotspots and save them onto a shared viewable online platform.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the pilot phase of the project (one ward and one commune) to gain insight in order to refine the project design as needed.
  • Further develop the existing project design including:
    • Define tasks and required resources
    • Create schedule and project timeline
  • Implement the remaining phases of the project
  • Manage the project as follows
    • Support smartphone application development (executed by IT team)
    • Manage project team (trainer and government liaison)
    • Manage budget & allocate project resources
    • Network with community representatives and government agencies at the provincial, district, and local levels
    • Conduct introductory meetings with community and government partners
    • Manager overall project outputs, outcomes, and impact achievement
    • Ensure quality control of activities
    • Track deliverables
    • Monitor project progress and report on problems & solutions
    • Implement and manage change when necessary
    • Evaluate and assess results of project

  • Timely and cost effective completion of project deliverables

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field of study (business administration, public policy, etc.) or equivalent work experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) / PRINCE II certification is a plus
  • Excellent English and Vietnamese language skills - written and verbal
  • At least 2 years proven working experience in project management
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Resourceful, independent, and able to work in teams
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Job Details:

  • Part time, 20 hours per week, to start with the possibility to increase to full time
  • Flex-time, may include both weekdays and weekends depending on event activities
  • Up to 50% travel in the province of Hanoi (for stakeholder meetings primarily)
  • Location: KHC Office, located at 587 Lac Long Quan, Hanoi, and volunteer project sites

Compensation

  • Salary is negotiable but KHC is committed to paying a living wage
