Humanity & Inclusion (HI)


Humanity & Inclusion is an independent and impartial aid organisation working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. The organisation works alongside people with disabilities and vulnerable populations, taking action and bearing witness in order to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights.   OUR VALUES

  OUR SCOPE OF ACTION  HI’s scope of action is defined by the institutional, professional, and operational space in which our work is both needed and possible. Beneficiaries Our international aid and development work targets the following population categories in the different countries where we work: • Vulnerable populations • People with disabilities • People living with disabling diseases • Populations of refugees, displaced persons and people requiring humanitarian assistance • People with disabling injuries / trauma • People exposed to the threat of weapons, munitions and explosive devices   Areas of expertise and activity HI’s professional and organisational expertise is mobilised in thirteen different sectors of activity: • Health • Prevention • Rehabilitation • Economic inclusion • Social inclusion • Education • Local development • Accessibility • Disaster preparedness and risk reduction • Demining and accident prevention • Camp coordination and management • Basic needs • Reconstruction  
Beneficiaries Our international aid and development work targets the following population categories in the different countries where we work: • Vulnerable populations • People with disabilities • People living with disabling diseases • Populations of refugees, displaced persons and people requiring humanitarian assistance • People with disabling injuries / trauma • People exposed to the threat of weapons, munitions and explosive devices   Intervention contexts The context describes both the situation which justifies our intervention, the environment, and the conditions and issues faced. We work in all of the following contexts: • Emergency response • Post-emergency • Reconstruction or rehabilitation • Development • Chronic crisis   Advocacy HI also mobilises its advocacy expertise, in order to influence and improve public policy: • Advocacy • Campaigns mobilising public opinion • Testimony, whistleblowing and condemnation of violations • Development and international aid and development education • Direct approaches to decision-making bodies (lobbying) • Participation in institutional representative bodies • Promote and improve regulatory and legal frameworks, as well as relevant legal instruments to further human rights, international humanitarian law, and disarmament
