About the position

This is a locally engaged staff position at an overseas Australian Diplomatic Mission. As an Information Technology specialist, the position provides specialised Information Communication and Technology (ICT) services to Australian Defence Staff (Washington), technical level support and day-to-day network administration of all Defence Information Environment equipment. Responsibility includes both on the Defence Restricted Network and the Defence Secret Network located within the Embassy of Australia and across the North America Region (NAR). This position works directly to the Executive Level 1 Regional ICT Manager supervising and administering the day-to-day operations of the Defence Information Technology team.

Additional Information

This position is a designated security assessed position. Applicants must be Australian citizens to be eligible for engagement. Employment in the advertised position is dependent on the employee having or acquiring a valid DFAT recognised security clearance at Negative Vetting Level 2. Security clearances can take several months to process, and employment cannot be commenced until an appropriate clearance is confirmed. There is no guarantee that the successful candidate for the position will be successful in obtaining a clearance. The inability to obtain a clearance prevents that applicant from being employed and loss of a security clearance at any time will lead to termination of employment.
