Description of the project the Intern will complete:

PATH is looking for an Intern to support project “Leveraging data and frontier technologies to build an NCD program for youth, with youth” funded by Botnar Foundation. This project is the first-ever comprehensive NCD-prevention intervention integrating frontier technologies with a school-based program in Vietnam. Taking a system thinking approach, PATH will leverage technologies to expand existing tools to impact NCD-related risk behaviors in youth. Our unique approach brings together youth participation, human-centered design, AI, and social media platforms to deliver a sustainable and scalable NCD prevention program to benefit Vietnam’s youth and beyond

Description of overall learning objectives and goals for the internship/benefit to the Intern:

  • Enhance communication skills including interpersonal, speaking, writing
  • Enhance computer skills including using Office, Microsoft team, etc;
  • Being confidence, competency in non-communicable disease area;
  • Develop skills in organization, time management, teamwork, multiple task coordination, initiative, adaptability, and project completion; and
  • Having experience to add to your resume; expand network or contacts; earn a job reference to vouch for your performance.

Brief description of required skills/experience the intern should possess:

  • Applicants must be last year students or have graduated from university if selected, applicant must start the internship within one-year of graduation.
  • Understanding of the context of Vietnamese adolescents and youth.
  • Preferable background and experience in communication or information technology.
  • Experience in literature review, mapping and training.
  • Creative thinking and interest in youth intervention.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English with experience in translation
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of Word, Excel, Powerpoint

Skills to be developed and/or expanded during internship:

  • Learning how to plan for project’s activities.
  • Gaining knowledge of non-communicable diseases.
  • Learning how to communicate with different stakeholders of the project; and
  • Building relationships with people who can serve as advisers or mentors.

Proposed activities:

  • Support literature review and mapping health education programs relating to NCD risk factors prevention in youth and applying frontier technology
  • Assist to create innovative intervention for youth to reduce NCD risk factors
  • Support to facilitate consultative meetings with project partners and consultants
  • Assist to prepare general reports for field assessments in project provinces
  • Other tasks as required.

Candidates must currently have legal authorization to work in Vietnam.
