Org. Setting and Reporting
The internship is located in the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) at Vienna, Austria. This internship advertisement is to fill multiple internship positions on a rolling basis, throughout 2020. The duration of the internship is for an original period of three months, starting as soon as possible, renewable for three extra months (please indicate your earliest possible starting date in your cover letter). Given the current situation due to COVID-19, interns who will be selected will have to start working remotely from their country of nationality/residence until the international travel restrictions are lifted and access to the Vienna International Centre can be granted. UNODA at Vienna serves as the hub for disarmament and non-proliferation education, hosting the global Disarmament Education Dashboard (e-learning platform -https://www.disarmamenteducation.org/ ). This multi-purpose and multi-user platform serves as a resource pool for a wide range of introductory and advanced online trainings on disarmament and non-proliferation issues. The intern will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and management of this platform and gain practical knowledge and understanding on the project, resources planning, implementation, and operation of United Nations global information and communications technology. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns will work five days per week (40 hours) under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Office. Responsibilities
The intern shall undertake the following duties which may include, but are not limited to: -Supporting the development of the multi-partner global UNODA Disarmament Education Dashboard (e-learning platform) to create and administer training courses, using HTML5, PHP, JavaScript and JQuery -Assisting in providing technical support towards the information architecture of the e-learning platform, (underlying databases MySQL) -Assisting the technical team in designing the e-learning platform, using XML, SHTML and style pages (CSS, SASS) -Performing other duties as assigned

Education
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: •Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). (OFFICIAL WRITTEN PROOF FROM THE UNIVERSITY SUPPORTING ONE OF THE ABOVE POSSIBILITIES MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE INSPIRA APPLICATION); •Be computer literate in standard software applications; •Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and •Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme, but are encouraged to list all relevant work experience in their application. Applicants must have a keen demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. Fluency in English, i.e. oral and written proficiency is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
