For every child, a champion How can you make a difference?   BACKGROUND UNICEF in Latin America and the Caribbean is composed of 24 country offices that work in 35 countries and territories. The main role of the regional office is to provide technical assistance, build the capacity and exercise quality control to the 24 country offices. Enhancing the digital capacity of all country offices has been and will continue to be a priority of the regional office. The Regional Office in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC-RO) and all 24 COs in the region have launched its new website and have a continuous growing in all the digital platforms. The vision of a UNICEF that is innovative, collaborative, and nimble in the LAC region requires that www.unicef.org/lac and all the social media platforms be transformed into a content syndication service that is audience-centred, structured not as a mirror of our internal organization, but designed in a way that makes sense for the external user.   PURPOSE & OBJECTIVES The purpose of the internship is to support the Regional Office’s (RO) Digital Communication Strategy as a way to strengthen its goals around key issues affecting children. Therefore, the creation of engaging content needs to be integrated into an overall strategy geared not just towards increasing traffic but also increasing mobilization and advocacy. Under the overall direction of the Regional Communication Specialist of UNICEF LAC-RO and in the framework of the UNICEF Regional Office Communication Working Plan 2020, we are seeking a Digital Communication Intern with the skills to create engaging and creative content for UNICEF regional platforms and social media channel. The intern we are seeking is creative, dynamic, self-driven, up to date and passionate about the latest technologies and techniques, and can apply them to generate content.   MAIN TASKS AND DELIVERABLES The Digital Communication Intern will work within the UNICEF Communication section in the Regional Office and will have the opportunity to contribute to make a large impact on the design, architecture, and implementation of all the regional digital and social media platforms. The main deliverables are: FOR THE REGIONAL OFFICE - Develop and produce engaging content (messages, photos and graphic design, video, GIF´s, etc.) for RO website and social media platforms managed by RO in recent months and update them regularly. - Adapt to social media new contents and information produced by NYHQ, to be shared with Country Offices in the region in English and in Spanish. - Provide general assistance to the Communication Section in the Regional Office with special focus on:
  • Developing social media packs combining messages, graphic design and new techniques to generate engaging content.
  • Producing new and engaging multimedia materials, including videos, for social media.
IN SUPPORT OF COUNTRY OFFICES - Contribute to the Regional Digital Communication Strategy, providing technical assistance and capacity building to Country Offices in their own digital and social media strategies as needed, including during the Regional Communication Network Meeting.   DURATION The duration of the internship will be of 6 months (April-October).   To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… Minimum qualifications and skills:
  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or Ph.D. degree programme or have graduated within the past two years.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with bachelor's Degree in Communication and/or Digital Journalism, or related fields integrating social-media platforms, APIs (CMS, Facebook, Twitter, Google, Flickr, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Proven experience in developing content for a young audience on APIs.
  • Proven experience in communications skills and multimedia (writing, editing, event organization, video production, photography).
  • Proven experience in using graphic design packages like adobe Photoshop, adobe Illustrator, InDesign.
  • Fluency in Spanish and excellent command of English is compulsory.
