  • Salary: USD $12,160 /Per Year

Duties

Incumbent of this position will provide security for U.S. Embassy Hanoi personnel and facilities by conducting access control and visitor screening duties as a member of a local guard program. The incumbent will detect, deter, respond, and report potential criminal and terrorists’ acts directed against U.S. Government personnel and facilities.   The incumbent will serve as Shift Supervisor for all U.S. government facilities and leased residences by providing operational and administrative supervision of each local guard shift ensuring that U.S. government property and personnel are safeguarded.  Responsibilities includes planning the schedules guard assignments and making arrangements as needed based upon environmental conditions.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: At least 3-year experience in the military or as a police officer, or security guard.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have knowledge of the emergency response procedures and notification process.
Education Requirements:
Completion of secondary education, high school diploma (grade 12) or the local equivalent.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE:
  • Good working knowledge in Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. (This will be tested.)
  • Good working knowledge in Speaking/Reading/Writing Vietnamese is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have/must be:
  • Ability to understand the security control panel and to operate emergency alarms and the public address system.
  • Ability to use Automated External Defibrillator, fire extinguisher and personal protective equipment (i.e. batons, pepper spray, handcuffs, and flexi cuffs, etc.).
  • Ability to walk and/or stand for an extended period of time in a wide variety of weather conditions.
  • Ability to work flexible shift schedules, to include nights, days, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Ability to operate motor vehicle and have valid host country driving licenses (class A1 and B2)
  • Ability to effectively react to various incidents and independently take action as necessary depending on the nature of incidents outlined in guard orders.
  • Ability to communicate with persons from all socioeconomic classes.
  • Familiar with dispute mediation tactics to ease potentially dangerous security situations.
  • Proficient in presentation techniques and instructional strategies and in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

Locally Employed Staff working at the U.S. Mission in Vietnam will receive the following allowances and benefits in addition to the annual basic salary listed above.
1. Allowances: 
  • Unique Conditions of Work Allowance: 7% of Annual basic salary (subject to review every two years).
  • Miscellaneous Benefits Allowance: US$1,000 per annum for FSN-09 and below, and US$3,000 per annum for FSN-10 and above.
