Mail Room Clerk


The U.S. Embassy Hanoi is located at No 7 Lang Ha Street, Ba Dinh District in Hanoi, Vietnam. Hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. You may contact the Embassy switch board at +84-24-3850-5000.
Duties
Incumbent of this position will serve as clerk in the Embassy mail and pouch room. S/he will receive, disseminate, and dispatch diplomatic pouch, diplomatic post office (DPO) parcels, local mail, and international mail.  The incumbent will hand deliver dip notes, employee passports, and various documents between government offices.  S/he will act as customer liaison for all postal matters within U.S. Mission Vietnam.
Qualifications and Evaluations
    Requirements:EXPERIENCE:  At least two year experience in customer service is required.JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have:
  • Thorough knowledge of Pouch and Mail procedures and regulations.
  • Knowledge of host government customs procedures.
  • Basic computer and email usage.
Education Requirements: Completion of secondary school (grade 12) is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE:  Good working knowledge in Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. (This will be tested.) Good working knowledge in Speaking/Reading/Writing Vietnamese is required. SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Must have/be:
  1. Have appropriate driver’s license to be able to drive a motorcycle and a cargo van (Vietnamese driver's license category A1 and C or higher).
  2. Must have held a valid driver’s license for minimum of five years (either for motorcycle or a cargo van).
  3. Able to responsibly handle and document usage of a cash fund of approximately USD 1250.
