Project Objective

SI is implementing the new USAID/Vietnam Learns Contract. The scope of the five-year project is to support USAID/Vietnam staff and its implementing partners to implement more efficient, effective, and sustainable programs by (1) improving staff P knowledge and skills in Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) and Collaborating, Learning & Adapting (CLA); (2) advancing evidence-informed decision-making; (3) strengthening strategic collaboration between staff and local stakeholders.

Position Description

SI seeks to hire a full-time Monitoring Intern to the 12-month Internship program at USAID-Learns starting in December 2021.

Selection Criteria

  • Recent university graduate, undergraduate or master’s degree (no more than 2 years ago)
  • Keen interest in contributing to sustainable development goals
  • Very strong analytical & logical thinking skills, not necessarily related to monitoring or data
  • Strong interest in adaptive management
  • Strong ability to pay attention to details, while remaining agile, quick-thinking, creative and proactive
  • Ability to convincingly demonstrate above interests and skills in interview or simulation settings.
  • Very strong verbal and written English
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Interns will be expected to:

  • The intern will
    • support (and when directed lead) the execution of tasks, especially those related to the monitoring team
    • support the logistics and organization of events
    • actively support quality control, knowledge management and strategic analysis,
    • participate in all relevant USAID-Learns events, and
    • when appropriate, contribute to USAID-Learns capacity building efforts, data-visualization and the execution of new/innovative efforts, especially those more closely related to Monitoring for adaptive management.
  • By the end of the assignment the intern will be expected to have
    • become fully conversant about USAID Learns’ processes, approaches and all related tools, specifically in areas of MEL and CLA
    • become conversant all relevant USAID policy and requirements,
    • be skilled enough to independently and qualitatively execute all foundational monitoring tasks (all day-to-day tasks typically assigned to USAID Monitoring & Learning Officers). as well as actively promote approaches in support to adaptive management.

Terms of the internship

  • Duration: up to 12 months
  • Remuneration: A stipend of VND 11,600,000 per month
  • Benefits: social and health insurance according to the local labor law, telephone allowance, paid leave and holiday.
