Project Objective
SI is implementing the USAID/Vietnam Learns Contract. The scope of the five-year project is to support USAID/Vietnam staff and its implementing partners to implement more efficient, effective, and sustainable programs by (1) improving staff knowledge and skills in Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) and Collaborating, Learning & Adapting (CLA); (2) advancing evidence-informed decision-making; (3) strengthening strategic collaboration between staff and local stakeholders.
About the Learns’ Young Professionals Program
USAID Learns’ Young Professionals Program (Learns’ YPP) is a recruitment initiative for talented recent university graduates to start a career in international development in Vietnam. Young Professionals (YPs) joining the program will be given substantive experience in a range of essential program functions including project monitoring, capacity building, research, organizational learning or human resources (HR) and administration. YPs in the Learns’ YPP will be given the opportunity to:

- Experience a range of training and professional development opportunities and exposure to new tools and techniques.
- Build a marketable skillset through substantive technical work.

Position Description
SI seeks to hire a full-time Monitoring Young Professional to support the Monitoring team. This position is based in Hanoi and will report to the Senior Monitoring Specialist.
Selection Criteria
- Recent university graduate with a bachelor’s or a master’s degree (no more than 2 years ago).
- Keen interest in contributing to sustainable development goals and monitoring for development projects.
- Strong ability to pay attention to details, while remaining agile, quick-thinking, creative, and proactive.
- Good learners and proactive
- Good English and Vietnamese reading and writing skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong data visualization skills – including demonstrable design knowledge, such as layout, typography, color, interaction design and familiar with design/Adobe tools, experience in storytelling with data is strongly preferred, but not required.
- Strong analytical skills is a plus.
- Experience in using MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is a plus.
Monitoring YP will be expected to:
- Assist the execution of Monitoring team’s tasks, which possibly include but not limited to:
- Participate in and support Data Quality Assessment (DQA) process for USAID’s implementing partners.
- Assist in data calculation, analysis, and reporting for some indicators of USAID Learns.
- Provide logistical and organizing support for events the Monitoring team either leads or supports
- When necessary, help translate Monitoring documents and training materials into Vietnamese
- Help organize all internal Monitoring team meetings/events and take notes.
- Actively support all team knowledge management needs & ongoing quality control (SharePoint and Google Drive).
- When appropriate, support a variety of data-visualization efforts - transforming data sets, quantitative and qualitative analysis into compelling visuals, improved visualization of materials and the execution of new initiatives.
- When appropriate, assist in reviewing project Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) plans for USAID-funded development projects.
By the end of the assignment, Monitoring YP will:
- Become fully conversant about USAID Learns’ processes, approaches and all related tools, specifically in areas of MEL and CLA.
- Become conversant about relevant USAID policy and requirements, especially on monitoring and reporting.
- Be qualified for Monitoring Assistant positions working under other USAID-funded projects.
