Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. Internal candidates should meet the minimum of time in post requirement of eighteen months or more.This requirement will be reduced to six months for internal candidates who are incumbents of a position confirmed for discontinuation.
1. Nature of the internship: A six-month internship to support the Program unit in Hanoi office involved in the implementation of grant-funded projects to build capacity of Vietnamese Government on migration-management. The intern will receive a modest monthly subsistence allowance and be covered against occupational accident and illness.
2. Tasks to be performed under this internship: Provide support to project teams on project development and implementation , including:
- Support project teams in writing and editing project documents;
- Conduct desk research and prepare statistical analysis, for project proposal and concept notes, and research;
- Support project teams in preparing briefs and power point presentations;
- Support organization and documentation of project meetings (i.e., minutes, notes for file)
- Support online social media and outreach initiatives to promote IOM work;
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Head of the Programming and Chief of Mission.
3. Experience and Academic Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in social science, international development or related field;
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken forms in English and Vietnamese;
- Research and analytical skills;
- Knowledge of statistical software, such as SPSS and NVIVO;
- Organized, efficient and able to meet deadlines;
- Knowledge of or working experience with UN agencies or NGOs on issues related to migration, counter trafficking, human rights and gender, and climate change.
