Orbis is a leading NGO that has been a pioneer in the prevention and treatment of blindness for over 40 years. Orbis transforms lives by delivering the skills, resources, and knowledge needed to provide accessible quality eye care. In Vietnam, Orbis has been providing the highest level of expertise to support the development of eye care services and blindness prevention– especially in the areas of pediatric eye care and uncorrected refractive errors (RE). Since 2015, Orbis has worked to strengthen the eye health system in the country, focusing on the quality of services and human resources. Under the design of Orbis projects in Hoa Binh and Lai Chau province, to improve communication skills and gender knowledge in eye care for teachers and school health workers, Orbis plans to provide training courses on communication skills and gender knowledge for teachers and school health workers of secondary schools in Lai Chau and Hoa Binh in 2024. Therefore, Orbis is seeking a consultant to conduct these trainings in Lai Chau and Hoa Binh and follow up with monitoring and evaluation of communication and gender mainstreaming activities done in these provinces after the training.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Implementing partners: CDCs in Lai Chau and Hoa Binh
Project duration: August – December 2024

MAIN ACTIVITIES:

Conduct vision screening and communication activities for communities in seven districts and one city in Lai Chau province and two districts in Hoa Binh province
Provide training on vision screening for teachers and school health workers from secondary schools in Lai Chau and Hoa Binh provinces
Provide training on communication skills and gender mainstreaming for teachers from secondary schools under these projects
Conduct vision screening, and refraction examination and provide prescribed eyeglasses for students from 26 secondary schools in Phong Tho district and Lai Chau City in Lai Chau province and from secondary schools in Hoa Binh province
Donate equipment for vision screening and refraction examination for provincial Centers for Disease Control and medical care rooms of schools under the projects
Organize communication activities at 26 schools in Phong Tho and Lai Chau city, Lai Chau province and in two districts of Yen Thuy and Da Bac, Hoa Binh province

PURPOSE:

To provide training on communication skills and gender mainstreaming for teachers/school health workers from secondary schools in Lai Chau and Hoa Binh province

SCOPE OF WORK:

The consultant will work closely with Orbis to carry out the following tasks:

Develop contents and tools for communication skill and gender mainstreaming training courses
Deliver trainings for school teacher/school health workers from secondary schools in Lai Chau and Hoa Binh provinces
Evaluate and support the organization of communication activities at school
Prepare and submit a final report on the work done in Lai Chau and Hòa Binh provinces
