The Human Projects International Team is a group of passionate volunteers from around the world dedicated to helping other young people solve human rights issues and increasing access to human rights education. We are a close knit team with different interests and skills brought together by an unrelenting desire to change the world. Our goal this year is to provide human rights education to over 1 million students. We are excited to learn more about you throughout the selection process and look forward to welcoming new members to our global family!
Please note that we are an entirely volunteer run nonprofit. All positions on the International Team are volunteer.

A. Internships - Changemakers Archive - Summer 2020
The Human Projects Changemakers Archive Team works to collect and share meaningful data and stories from changemakers around the world by developing a public global archive. As a Changemakers Archive Team Intern, you will have the opportunity to conduct interviews with inspiring changemakers from around the world and assist in compiling the stories into a human rights textbook that will inspire young people to create positive change in their communities.
Interns will be working on the 30 Human Rights Textbook, a collaboration between the Education Team and the Changemakers Archive Team. Details about the project and specific requirements are listed below. You may apply for multiple internships if you are interested, but you can only be selected to work on one project for the duration of the internship.

Requirements:
- Must be a current student (high school, undergraduate, graduate, or gap year all eligible) or recent graduate with demonstrated interest in human rights
- Able to commit 15 - 25 hours per week to Human Projects work
- Available from June 2020 to August 2020 - flexible start and end dates
- Strong communication, organization and strategic thinking skills
- Hardworking, detail-oriented, efficient and creative
- Reliable internet access
1. 30 Human Rights Textbook Intern
The 30 Human Rights Textbook is a collaboration between the Education and Archive teams to educate middle and high school aged students about human rights and empower students reading the textbook to take action in their own communities by sharing stories of inspiring young changemakers in human rights.
Interns working on this project will:
- Work with the Director of Education and the Archives Team to identify and connect with young changemakers leading on nonprofits, projects, or other initiatives relevant to each of the 30 Human Rights
- Schedule and conduct interviews with young changemakers
- Write about how young changemakers are advocating for a particular human right and outline ways for students to take action
- Compile research into a textbook format targeted at middle school and high school level students
2. Internships - Education - Summer 2020
The Human Projects Education Team develops action oriented human rights educational materials that are utilized by schools and nonprofits around the world. As an Education Team Intern, you will have the opportunity to help develop quality human rights educational materials that encourage young people to solve human rights issues in their communities.
Interns will be working on one of three projects with the Education Team this summer: 30 Human Rights Textbook, Human Rights Fact Sheets, or Education Materials Translation. Details about each of these projects and their specific requirements are listed below. You may apply for multiple projects if you are interested, but you can only be selected to work on one project for the duration of the internship.
We will begin inviting applicants to interview on June 15th at 11:59 p.m. PST. 1. 30 Human Rights Textbook Intern
The 30 Human Rights Textbook is a collaboration between the Education and Archive teams to educate middle and high school aged students about human rights and empower students reading the textbook to take action in their own communities by sharing stories of inspiring young changemakers in human rights.
Interns working on this project will:
- Work with the Director of Education and the Archives Team to research the thirty human rights as listed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
- Write about how young people are advocating for human rights around the world and outline ways for students to take action
- Compile research into a textbook format targeted at middle school and high school level students
2. Human Rights Fact Sheets Intern
In addition to our lesson plans, the Education Team is working on creating short fact sheets about different human rights issues for educators around the world to utilize.
Interns for this project will:
- Perform research into human rights issues that are part of The Human Projects’ educational materials
- Collect statistics, facts, and expert opinions about these issues from credible sources
- Put together informative and engaging human rights fact sheets complementing The Human Projects’ lesson plans
3. Education Materials Translation Intern
The Human Projects’ educational resources such as lesson plans and posters are all primarily available and distributed in English. In order to reach more students, we are beginning to translate these resources. Interns applying for this position must demonstrate working proficiency of both English and at least one additional language from the following list: Spanish, French, Arabic, Hindi, Portuguese, Swahili. Interns for this project will:**
- Collaborate with Education Team members and other interns to translate The Human Projects’ educational materials from English into prevalent global languages
- Expand the Human Projects’ impact by creating human rights curricula that engages students who do not speak or are not fluent in English
Podcast: Stories of Changemakers
Podcast Synopsis: Join us on a journey through the stories of changemakers as we discover the spark that ignited their passion, their greatest triumphs, and most meaningful lessons. From unsung local heroes to internationally recognized leaders, the Stories of Changemakers Podcast explores the impact of changemakers around the world and shares their advice for the next generation of changemakers.
4. Logistics Coordinator
Responsibilities:
- Research and reach out to potential interviewees for the podcast
- Coordinate scheduling interviews for the podcast
- Communicate with podcast interviewees
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Must be fluent in written and spoken english
5. Audio Editor
Responsibilities:
- Edit and upload podcast episodes
- Assist the podcast team with audio technology
- Experience using and access to audio editing software (Garage Band, Audacity, etc.) *Required
