Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH a global service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work. On behalf of the German Government, GIZ currently provides advisory services to the Government of Viet Nam and is currently engaged in three priority areas: Vocational training, Environmental Policy, Conservation and Sustainable Management of Natural Resources, Biodiversity and Coastal Protection and Energy. Viet Nam's dynamic growth is also reaching rural areas, but at the same time poses a major challenge for the protection of the environment and the preservation of biodiversity. The effects of climate change are significant and the physical exposure, high population density and institutional weaknesses make the coastline and the Mekong Delta in particular vulnerable. The Cluster "Environment, Climate Change, Agriculture and Regional Economic Integration" currently addresses 5 working areas, including forest biodiversity, implementation of Paris Agreement, coast & water, agriculture, regional economic integration as well as numerous service packages of global projects, and private-public partnerships. The Nationally Determined Contribution Transport Initiative for Asia (NDC TIA) is a joint project of seven organizations and will engage in China, India and Vietnam aims at promoting a comprehensive approach on decarbonizing transport, a coherent strategy of effective policies that are coordinated among various sector ministries, Civil society and the private sector. In each of the partner countries, the consortium supports countries in facilitating and informing these stakeholder processes and in developing selected climate actions. In Vietnam, the goals of the project are to support the Vietnamese partners on national and city level on enhancing transport mitigation ambition in its 2050 vision and NOC and improving the policy framework for low-carbon transport.

The project requires a qualified local candidate to fulfill the following position:

PR & Communications Officer

"NDC-Transport Initiative for Asia"

Duty Station: Hanoi, Vietnam Duration: Starting ASAP for 02-years contract (with the possibility of extension)

Main responsibilities:

The overall aim of the GIZ NOC-TIA VN-SIPA Projects is to support the Government of Vietnam in the development of low-carbon transport, climate change response. The PR & Communications Officer will support these projects to gain their objectives in the following PR/Communication fields of activities:
  • Project corporate branding
  • Media Networking and Cooperation
  • Event management
  • Project strategic communication plans development and implementation
  • Other duties and tasks at the request of management
The PR & Communications Otfiær reports directly to the Team Leader of NDC-TIA

Minimum

  • MSc in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Public Relations Officer or similar PR role from 10 years above
  • Experience working in development organization or NGOs
  • Experience working with national media organizations (VTV, other local VTV, newspapers, etc.)
  • Experience managing media relations (online, broadcast and print)
  • Background in researching, writing and editing publications
  • Proficient in MS Office and social media
  • Experienced in MC of general events or company events is a plus
  • Strong communication ability (oral and written)
  • Excellent writing style both in Vietnamese and English
  • Excelent organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Creativity and problem-solving aptitude
