General Description

The manager of the Cancer Care for Children program is responsible for the implementation of and reporting for the cancer program activities- from proposal writing to implementing, case management and reporting. The manager will have good Vietnamese and English communication skills and be able to work with local governments, stakeholders, doctors, and hospitals. This position also supports fundraising activities and other related tasks. In addition, the manager must be familiar with hospital protocols and have knowledge of cancer at the institutional level. Activities that the manager will oversee are pediatric treatment, early detection, capacity building, nutrition, psycho-social issues, medicines, and research.

Key activities

  1. Works with the VCF management team to design, plan, implement, and report on the cancer program.
  2. Assists the VCF management team with proposals, budgets, operating plans and the creation of M&E to support the program.
  3. Works with hospitals, staff, foundations, and others involved in implementation to understand various patients’ problems, possible clinical courses of action, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment possibilities, and be a key advisor on the applications of assistance.
  4. Follows up with hospitals to have all paperwork necessary to prove the poverty status of the child, red receipts, and other financial documentation necessary to ensure transparency and integrity of the program and the children assisted.
  5. Liaises with the community of representatives from foreign and local NGOs, from state-run and provincial organizations in order to ensure that the program is cutting edge, scientific, and operated on solid business principles. Assists the children and their families to provide non-treatment assistance like travel, food, or lodging expenses.
  6. Liaises with representatives from other iNGOs, and Vietnamese NGOs to cooperate on working together to share the surgery costs if possible, much like our heart program.
  7. Manages and reports the beneficiaries' and partners’ progress on a regular basis at both the aggregate level and the anecdotal level.
  8. Evaluates cases submitted by the partners and other organizations to VCF and process them based on approved program guidelines.
  9. Prepares reports from the children to donors and updates them on children’s progress; arrange the hospital/home visit for them if required.
  10. Complies with all policies and other financial requirements of VCF.
  11. Other tasks as required by the CEO and other management team colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from University
  • At least three years of NGO experience in grassroots projects, experience working with provincial authorities a plus, or similar experience in the healthcare sector.
  • Ability to travel for clinics, provincial meetings, and Hanoi/MOH.
  • Fluent in Vietnamese and English and ability to write professionally.
  • Ability to work in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and learn internal systems
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, and willingness to put in extra work when needed for events and projects.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are essential.
